Mrs. Ronza Wolfe * and children 233 It-x 0 - q County Agent s Column • 6 Feed Molasses Hoosier dairymen can supplement roughages of low feed value this winter with molasses, reports G. A. Williams, extension dairyman at Purdue University. Feeding tests indicate that 6.5 gallons of molasses are equivalent in livestock feed value to one bushel of corn. If the corn-molasses price ratio is favorable, dairymen should consider the use of molasses. Williams says. Molasses may be diluted and poured over unpalatable forages, thus Increasing consumption, or may be fed free choice up to two or even three pounds per cow daily if prices are favorable. Three pounds of molasses equals about one quart. Feed records secured from DHIA members last year indicate that a number of herds, especially if silage was not fed, received molasses during a part or all the winter months. Molasses does not increase the feeding value of low grade forages but it does add palatability and 1 permits the cow to consume diges-| tible nutrients in larger amounts. Expect French Parliament To Approve Move Opens Fall Session Today, Expected To Okay Withdrawal PARIS (INS) — The French parliament, reconvening today for its fall session, was expected to voice its approval of the government’s decision to -withdraw from the UN General Assembly. But that action by the national assembly, to be taken out of national pride, will be one of the few issues on which Premier Edgar Faure will not face a fight. The deputies will be taking Up a series of international and domestic problems, each one of which is suitably controversial enough to end in the overthrow of Faure’s seven-months-old cabinet. The premier’s policy in Morocco is in the crucial stage of unfinished business. His efforts to replace the now- exiled Sultan Mohammed , Ben Moulay Arata with a regency council and install a native government to negotiate home rule with i France have been under heavy atj tack by the right-wing colonialists. I The need for quick action in the ■ North African protectorate has ’ been underlined in the past few days by the renewed attacks by ■ native Nationalists left at least 23 persons dead. As for Algeria, while Faure can expect endorsement of his cabinet’s decision to boycott the UN 1 body for its decision to debate the I question of native demands for ini dependence, he can not expect i complete support for the “integra- : tion" policy which is supposed to ' gffißTe French action there. The non-Communist left wing in Trench politics has attacked this as simply a slogan designed to buy time. If France were to treat Algeria as a part of metropolitan France—which is its position in the UN dispute—lso Moslem deputies would have to be seated in today's national assembly. Aside from North Africa, the government may expect to come under fire for its decision announced Monday to cancel the Moscow visit of Faure and foreign minis- ! ter Antoine Pinay which had been scheduled for Oct. 14. Pinay informed the Soviet charge d’affaires that the action was necessary because of the Russian vote in the UN favoring consideration of the Algerian situation. Actor Jess Barker Must Pay Starlet Format Paternity Trial Scheduled HOLLYWOOD (INS) — Actor Jess Barker must pay temporary support of $53 monthly anil medical expenses to starlet Yvonne Doughty for birth of the baby she i claims he fathered. Los Angeles superior court rul- , ed that Barker, the divorced husband of movie star Susan Hayward, Will be considered the father of Miss Doughty’s child until a formal paternity trial can be completed. Judge Elmer D. Doyle said that' Barker is deemed the father only for purposes of settling the temporary support hearing which was conducted Monday and that the ruling would not prejudice his right to present evidence later that he is not the parent. Barker denied heatedly Monday that he had fathered the pretty, 25-year-old beauty’s child, which is expected in six -weeks. He agreed to submit to blood tests and lie detector examinations to help decide the case. Miss Doughty, who was in tears during part of the court battle, also agreed to undergo blood tests after the child is born and to take lie detector tests. Killing Frosts In Indiana Forecast To Hit North Port Os Stote This Week LAFAYKTTK. Ind. (INS)—Killing fronts are likely in the upper one-fourth of Indiana this week, with frost damage in the central portions expected some time after Oct. 10, and not until Oct. 15 in southern Hoosierland. That was the prediction of Purdue University agronomists, who noted that they were both delighted and embarrassed by last week's heavy rains. A 30-day forecast released by Purdue had called for dry weather last week, but air masses starting in the Gulf of Mexico area doublecrossed the weather prognosticators. The resulting rains over Indiana brought soil moisture to a point described by the Purdue specialists as "adequate." Chief casualty of the long drought, which started July 25 and ended a week ago, was believed to have been the soybean crop. Soybeans output was said to have dropped 20 percent from lack of moisture. „ Corn generally escpaed serious damage. G.O.P. Man Is Fined For Public Intoxication One case was tried in mayor’s court this morning and one case disposed of. Robert Hicks. Lima, Ohio, who was arrested Monday night for public intoxication and held ovdHiiight in. thsLggnmty jail, was fined $5 and costs after a plea of guilty. The fine totaled $lB. Walter A. Hayes, who has resided in the county jail since an arrest for petit larceny about 10 days, ago, was released with emphatic instructions to stay out of this city and Indiana in general. A check of Hayes’ fingerprints with the F. 8.1. showed that Hayes had been around. There were three sheets of arrest reports returned to the police department. The arrests ranged from petit larceny and public intoxication to Violation of federal narcotics acts and manslaughter. The man has spent time in. hoosegows ranging from county jails to Leavenworth and San Quentin. His first arrest dated back to 1930 and have been pretty regular since.
