She was arrested and will now have quite a time convincing a court and jury that her scheme was justifiable. , — Dele W. McMillen, Jr., president of the Central Soya Company has been appointed to the Agricultural Department committee of the U. 6. Chamber of Commerce for 1356. The honor is no light one and Dale W. is the only person from Indiana on the 36man committee. o—-00 —-0 Several of the candidates for municipal offices in the election November 8 have started the long job of calling on the voters and seeking their support. People are urged to ask questions. To be able to vote intelligently you should know just what the candidates propose to do with your business, that of operating the city, if elected. 0 0 Perhaps if, the public knew inbre about the number of utility employes in Decatur; the monthly cost of operation; the equipment purchased and the equipment needed, it would be helpful to all concerned. The people al- , ways are fearful if they ask questions they might be accused of being “snoopers", when maybe by asking a few questions, someone could make a suggestion which would be most helpful to those assigned to managing one of the city’s biggest operations.

How about arranging for an east and west champion to play off for the World Series honor? That would assure teams from each part of the country instead of just repeating contests between two New York teams as so often has happened recently? __© o_ The New York stock exchange is getting well rapidly after the big slump that followed the illness of the President. The drop was foolish and without cause it would seem. Business was never better and prices of stock should be based on earning reports plus future expectations. We are happy that the President is recovering and glad that the government was so organized that nothing serious happened, t 0 0— — Some months ago, the Chamber of Commerce started to utilize its display window at the office on North Second street for exhibits of products manufactured in Decatur.
