Shutt 4 ln Oomniuußm from 2:005:00. October Sth — Presbyterial Meeting — Huntington, 9:30-3:00. In*viewofth^^SSaR ,l ed fact that it will take spiritual force to bring about world peace, there are clear evidences that we are on the crest of a great moral pnd religious movement. There is a spiritual awakening beyond any for many centuries as seen in the great revivals under such men as Billy Graham, Dr. Tempfetop and Bishop Sheen. Religious books are now the best sellers, the Bible being at the top of the Hat. The public press, magazines and newspapers are giving more and more space to religious articles. It is noteworthy that our President stands out as a national religious leader, patting emphasis on prayer and church attendance. What is important now is that this religious awakening be given every possible momentum in order that our total life may he saturated with the reality of God’s presence and our nation be a citadel of spiritual power. Church construction in 1955 will exceed 3700,000,000 it was predicted by Dr. Harry Atkinson, director of the National Council of Churches’ Bureau of Church building. More than 100,000 children participated in parades in 26 communities pf Brooklyn, New York, marking the 139th anniversary of the Brooklyn Sunday School Union. The Heifer Project, Inc., interfaith relief and rehabilitation agency with headquarters at New Windsor, Md., made a record 27 shipments of livestock abroad in 1364. Needy people in 14 countries benefited from the gifts. During the past nine years Americans have voluntarily sent 15,GOO.OOO CARE packages, containing 8165,000,000 worth of needed supplies, to the people of sixty foreign countries. An evangelistic campaign in New York City by Billy Graham is being planned for the fail of 1957. Under the leadership of the Protestant Council of the City of New York it is hoped that all-in-clusive Protestant sponsorship for the campaign can be arranged. The World Council of Churches’ Executive Committee has accepted an invitation to hold its first 1956 session near Sydney, Australia. February 6-10. It will „ mark the first time any governing body of the World Council has met in the southern hemisphere. The first chapel to be available for public use on Capitol Hill in Washington has been dedicated by the Methodist Board of Temperance. The chapel is located in the Methodist Building, apposite the Capitol and across the street from the United States Supreme Court. Non-denominational services will be held e».ch Wednesday at noon for persons who work in Capitol offices, the Supreme Court, and the Library of Congress.
