V.F.W. AUXILIARY HOLDS FOURTH DISTRICT MEETING The local V. F. W. ladle* auxiliary waa host to the fourth district meeting, recently held at the post home. Seven districts weie represented and th* meeting was conducted by the four;h district president, Mr’< Glemnys Martz. Mrs. Martx asked officers of the ladies auxiliary to keep in mind the school of instruction for ,officers and chairmen, which will be held at the Fort Wayne post 857. For furtlier information members are asked to contact Mrs. Martz. Mrs. Rita Brown, fifth district president from Kokomo, was a guest at the meeting. 3 a.ni. Wednesday.- The first tour at 9:15 that morning included seeing the famous Ford Rotunda and the enormous vast territory-where Fords are made and assembled. Dinner was served at Greenfield Village, and the afternoon included a two-hour tour of the village. The* first day was highlighted by enjoying the popular “Cinerama Holiday”. Thursday began with a morning of relaxation at the Detroit zoological park which is fashioned after the famed Hagenbeck Zoo of Berlin, Germany. After dinner the group crossed Ambassador Bridge and spent an hour of sightseeing in Windsor, Canada. The return trip was made via the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. After cheeking out at the hotel, all 51 ladies ready to leave walked to the Wabash depot for the ride back to Fort Wayne. Acreage Allotment For Sugar Beets WASHINGTON (INS) — The agriculture department has set up a national acreage allotment for the 1956 crop of sugar beets at almost the same level as this year. Farmers’ estimated plantings of beets this year were slightly below the 850,040 alloted for the 1955 crop.

(Berne’s Chamber of Commerce has voted S3OO to provide hitching facilities for the Amish of the community who still drive old Dobbin in to market. Ivan Keith, 19, of Linn Grove, and, Harold Elwell, 38, Bryant, collided cars while driving to the Bluffton fair when Elwell applied the brakes and his car skidded. Both cars were heaVily damaged. Van Wert, 0., Is raising a community chest of $33,852, ten per cent more than this year. For six decades the Gilpen home has been one of the showplaces of Van Wert. It was purchased by William Wostnaught and has now been presented to the city to be used as a museum. Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Two Nightclub Men Are Seized By FBI Traffic Charged In Sexy Dances CHICAGO (INS) — Two nightclub men of suburban Calumet City are being held for what federal authorities said may be a seven state traffic in girls for sexy dances. Seized by FBI agents Thursday on warrants Issued in Cincinnati were Peter F. Ganiz, owner of the Riptide nightclub, and Allen S. Holzman, his floonnan. They are charged with transporting Geraldine Hall of Cincinnati across state lines for immoral purposes. Two other dancers from Cincinnati —Ida Winkleman, 26, a Riptide Club entertainer, and Gladys Hensley, 18, who performs at the Shay Club, also owned by Ganiz — were arrested as material witnesses. Donald S. Hostetter, head of the Chicago FBI office, said Miss Hall returned to Cincinnati Wednesday and charged she had been lured to the Riptide where she was compelled to give striptease exhibitions. According to Hostetter, Miss Hall said a theatrical agent had given her name to a ring of striptease operators and Ganiz and Holzman took her to Calumet City. Mitchell Rieger, assistant U. S. ‘ attorney, declared: “There is much more to this situation. Ann Durkin Enters Earlham College Ann Dni'kin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene DurKln of irecatuf, has just completed the orientation program for new students at Earlham College, Richmond. She entered the midwest school as a freshman.
