Hurricane Hilda Loses Some Force Hits Extreme Edge Os Eastern Cuba MIAMI (INS) — Hurricane Hilda lost some of its force when It smashed across the extreme edge of eastern Cuba during the night but is expected to regain some of its strength today as it moves westward across the extreme northern Caribbean Sea. The huge United States naval base at Guantanamo Bay reportedly escaped the brunt of the stortn. The storm was pinpointed by the Miami weather bureau in its 5 a.m. EST, advisory at 125 miles west of Guantanamo Bay. Hilda weakened while buffeting the mountainous area in Cuba but the highest winds of the eighth tropical storm of the season were estimated at 60 to 70 miles an hour in squalls near the center.

Strong to gale force winds extend 75 miles In the northern and 40 miles in the southern semicircle. The Miami weather bureau said the storm should continue moving at about 13 m®h during the next 18 to 24 hours and pick up some of the strength it lost while crossing over Cuba. Weather bureau forecasters warnd ethat precautions should' be continued along the south coast of Cuba and southward to the Cayman islands. Two Events Monday To Interest Farmers Two events of interest to all farmers are scheduled for the Herman Kipfer farm, on the Ad-ams-Wells county line at Vera Cruz Monday, it was announced today. Louis Steffen will use the cockshutt tractors and Co-op equipment to renovate land terraces in one demonstration. The Adams county 4-H and’ FFA teams will complete a county land judging contest. The winning team will represent Adams county in a district contest. Cletus Gillman, farm planner for Adams county S. C. S., will preside at both events. (INS) —Delaware county authorities today slated an inquest into the shooting deah of a 46 year old union officer. The slain man was Roy H. McDonald, secretary-treasurer of Local 32, AFL, American Flint Glass Workers Union. He was found fatally wounded In his apartment Tuesday. PoliceVsaid both suicide and murder were possibilities.
