During the party, games were played and prizes were won by Mrs. John Morgan, Mrs. Ray Kramer, and Mrs. Ada Weldy. Mrs. John Morgan won the prize for being the most originally dressed hobo. The next meeting will be held August 30. at the lEagles hall at 8 o’clock. A birthday party will follow the meeting and hostesses will be Mrs. Arthur Irwin and Mrs. Mae Garner. The Wesley class of the Methodist church will meet Thursday evening at 7:30 o'clock in the recreation room of the church. The Pleasant Grove W.M.A. will meet with Mrs. Bonnie Burger Friday evening at 7:30 o’clock. Rainbow for Girls will have a choir practice Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Masonic hall. The Eadie’s aid of Union Chapel church will meet Thurday all day at the church. A dinner will be furnished by the committee at noon and the regular business meeting will be held. The remainder of the day will be spent in sewing and quilting and the ladies of the church are invited. W.S.W.S. unit four of the Bethany E.U.B. church will meet with Mrs. Harriet Gause Thursday evening at 7:30 o'clock. Allen L. Farlow of Berne was one of those picked off at Bluffton for speeding and paid a fine of *16.50. State and Blackford county authorities will, have a Ford roadster raised from the bottom of Blue lake near Montpeilier and will be looking for clues to help solve the mystery of what it has been doing there. It’s belived to be a 1934 or 1935 model and was found by twd swimmers. The Kennedy plant at Van Wert O„ is shut down by a strike and no negotiations seem to be in progress. The controversy is over a wage agreement. Mrs. A. W. Hawk, 75. a native of Adams county, died at Anderson, Sunday evening. Funeral services will be held at the Mennonite church at Berne Wednesday afternoon. A daughter. Mrs. Dlllsworth of Anderson, and several brothers survive. Mrs. Chalmer Bollenbacher, who has been a patient at the Parkview memorial hospital in Fort Wayne, been released and is now at home on 910 Walnut street. Mr. and Mrs. John Hindenlang of Decatur and Mr and Mrs. Palmer Augsburger motored to Bloomington Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Hindenlang's son, accompanied them home and will spend a three week vacation before entering school. He is a medical student at Indiana University. Mr. and Mrs. David Embler and family of Decatur attended a potluck picnic Sunday evening at the home of Hr. and Mrs. Carl Luginbill. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Thieme returned home Friday evening after a weeks vacation in Nebron and Deskler, Nebraska. While there, they attended the 6th annual Thieme reunion and met many relatives they had never seen before. At the Adams county memorial hospital: Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Ewell of! MISS NANCY JOAN CLARK became the bride of Ralph Bollinger Sunday evening at 6 o’clock in the First Methodist church, with Dr. Gerald Jones officiating. Parents of the couple are Mrs. Catherine Harding and Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Bollinger. Both are graduates of Decatur high school and the bridegroom is employed at the Central Soya company in Decatur. Cooler Weather Is Welcomed In State Soaking Rainfall In Portions Os State INDIANAPOLIS (INS) -South Bend and Monticello got soaking rains and other parts of northwestern Indiana bad lesser downfalls as a break to cooler weather was heralded. The U. S. weather bureau, which had alerted the northwestern portion of the state for possible tornado peril, reported the state escaped unscathed.
