Craig Defends Mental Health Head Resignations Not Dr. Morgan Fault INDIANAPOLIS (INS) — Governor George N. Craig has come to the defense of his state mental health commissioner. Dr. Margaret Morgan. - •—-i--He said that recent resignations of psychiatrists at Larue Carter hospital wpre not the fault of Dr. Morgan but were due to the lack of a chairman at Indiana ..University's psychiatry department. The governor said that the shortage of psychiatrists is nation wide and that as a result Indiana will use genera) medical practitioners in the state mental hospitals. Craig said Indiana's mental hospitals need 50 to 60 more psychiatrists, but added: “We re not going to be stymied because we don't have enough. New ABC Chairman Starts Hew Policy Number Os Tavern Owners Punished INDIANAPOLIS (INS) — A new hard boiled policy ot the Indiana alcohoUc beverage commiasion waa in effect today under sponsorship of Walter Weyland, new ABC chairman. The commission punished a number of law breaking owners at Ms first formal open meeting in 13 years Tuesday. WeylAnd said: “We want the people to know what's going on.” Thirty day suspensions were ordered for four South Bend taverns which allegedly sold whisky without a permit. They were Aloysius and Sodil Pejza’s Denny's Tap Room, John Leszcz's One Game Only Jarern, Endre Vades' Shiek'a Tavern sftid Aloysius Krol's Al’s Tavern. The commission suspended for 30 days the license of the Canteen Supper Club, operated by George Kolina, Matt L. Wasiak and John Gigac in East Chicago. Charles were women standing at the bar, patrons standing, overcrowding and possession of baseball lottery tickets. Sunday sales of liquor resulted in suspension for 30 days of the Industrial Package Liquor Store, of Gary, owned by E. M. Soil. Other suspensions announced today were: William E. Thompson, Stag Bar, Bicknell, possessing pick and win tickets, seven days. Alberta Plowman, River Front ;Tavern, Troy. Sunday sales, 15 days. Omer P. Wainman, Westphalia, possession of pick and win tickets, seven days. > Wayne F. Smith. Wimpy’s Tavern, North Terre Haute, allowing a waitress to tend bar. The permit was suspended for seven days and the waitress' permit for seven days. William B. and James Nettles, Manhattan Case, Princeton, after hours sales, failing to clear out patrons by the legal time and employing a waitress without a permit, five days.
