Michigan City Opens Indiana Days Tuesday MICHIGAN OITY, Ind. (INS) — Final touches were added, to Michigan City today as it prepared for its first “Indiana Days" in 18 years. , More than 50,000 visitors are expected to pass through the city during this year's July 26-31 resumption of the “city fair” last held in Michigan City in 1937. Miss Margo Jones Dies Sunday Night DALLAS, Tex. (INS) —Miss Margo Jones, 42, Broadway and Dallas theatrical producer, died in a Dallas hospital Sunday night. She had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since July 15 tor uremia poisoning. Miss Jones was an associate producer of “Inherit the Wind.” now playing at the National Theatre in New York. Two Accidents Are Reported By Police Two accidents and one state police arrest were recorded by the city police over the week-end. Riley Grigsby, of Kentucky, was arrested by. state police one mile west of Decatur on U. 8. road 224 for exceeding the state speed limit. Grigsby was fined $lO and costs in Justice of the peace court. James Beery and John L. Hefner, Jr., were the drivers of autos that collided near the intersection of Walnut and Washington streets Saturday evening. Beery turned right of Washington street onto Walnut street and at the same time, Hefner pulled away from the curb on Walnut street. Damages totaled $75 to each car. The car of Harry E. Massonne was struck by an auto operated by Earl W. Wittwer of near Berne, at the intersection of Monroe and Thirteenth streets Sunday evening. The accident happened when Massonne stopped for a traffic light and Wittwer, in the same line of traffic, failed to stop In time. The rear-end collision caused $125 in damages to Massonne's ear and $l5O in dents to the Wittwer auto. Karen Massonne, two-year-old daughter of one of the drivers, suffered a bump on the head from the accident. Gasoline Explodes At Army Installation DARMSTADT, Germany (INS) — Nearly a quarter million gallons of gasoline in 40,000 cans exploded today in several blasts at a U. S. army installation between Darmstadt installation between Darmstadt and Griesheim in Germany. Greece Asks Cyprus Problem On Agenda UNITED NATIONS, N. Y. (INSI —The Greek government today asked that the -problem of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus be place£ on the agenda for the tonth UN Assembly which starts Sept. 20. The British government already has expressed Its uncompromising opposition to this step. Cyprus is a British crown colony, and the issue involved is the principal of "equal rights and self determination" for its citizens. Ralph Johnson Attends Conference The Rev. Ralph Johnson, pastor of the Monroe Methodist church, is attending the national Methodist town and country conference at Bloomington. Rev. Johnson is North Indiana conference chairman of the town and country commission. He has also served the past three years as director of Camp Adventure, Junior high camp for Methodist youth, and is a member of the Epworth Forest foundation and the North Indiana conferenct board of mission.
