County Rural Youth Attendance Winner Adams County Wins District Cowbell The attendance cowbell of the district 4 rural youth was won by the Adams county rural youth club Sunday at the district meeting which was held at the city park in Wabash. Adams county had the largest attendance present and by wini nlng the attendance cowbell for the third consecutvie time, a gold plate will be placed on the strap with Adams county engraved on the plate.’This is the first time a rural youth club in the district has won the bell three consecutive times. The local club previously won the bell at Tipton county in April and Miami county in January. Thirty-six members and advisors attended the afternoon ball game and evening picnic and program. Howard county boys softball team defeated Tipton county in the afternoon. Paul Busse and Dallas Neuenschwander umpired the game. Adams county will now play Howard county July 30 at Kokomo. After the picnic supper, Earl Yoder, district president, opened the meeting. Devotions were led by Bertha Landis, Gloria Crownover and Jim Schmiege. Plans were announced for the state rural youth camp September j 14-18 at Merom Institute near Vin-1 cennes. 12 Russian Farm Experts In lowa To Study Farming Methods In U. S. DES MOINES, la. (INS) Twelve Russian farm experts todpy began studying farming methods in the middle of America’s corn belt. The Russians arrived at Des Moines' municipal airport Sunday and were greeted ,by some 2,500 persons. Extending official greetings to the Soviet delegation were lowa agriculture secretary Clyde Spry and Dr. Floyd Andre, dean of agriculture at lowa State college. Vladimir Vladimirovich Matskeuich, first deputy minister of agriculture and the group leader, told the crowd through an interpreter: “We are quite sure that the closer that the workers of the most peaceful profession (farmers) get to know each other, the more the cause of peace and prosperity of humanity will gain.” All of the delegates, who are on a 12 day visit, smiled broadly
