Cletus B. Miller Takes Bride In Fort Wayne Ceremony Miss Bette Jane Drennan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew C. Drennan of Fort Wayne, became the bridb of Cletus B. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Miller of Decatur, Monday at 9 a. m. The single-ring nuptial ceremony which united them took place at St. Jude’s Catholic church in Fort Wayne. The Rev. Matthew M. Drennan of Lafayette, cousin of the bride, officiated.
Prof. Louis Peil was organist for tht ceremony and nuptial high mass. Charles Bilskie was vocalist and the St.JudeA men's choir sang the mass. The bride chose a full length gown of silk lace and tiille over taffeta. The fitted lace bodice featured a Queen Ann collar and long lace sleeves. The tulle skirt was beautiful with panels of the lace and ended in a chapel length train. — — A| lace cap decorated with seed pearls secured the fingertip bridal veiL The bride carried a bouquet of Amazon lilies and stephanotis. The bride’s . sister, Margaret, ’ was her only attendant. She was attired in a waltz length gown of white cotton lace over wedgewood blue taffeta. Her accessories were also of wedgewood blue and her bouquet was of stephanotis. Mr. Miller’s best man' was Her. man Knapke of Decatur. Wedding guests were seated by James H. Drennan, of Fort Waype, brother of the bride, and Charles Cook of Decatur. A wedding breakfast was served at 11 a. m. at the Hobby Ranch house in Fort Wayne which war also the scene of a reception from 2 to 4 p. m. Serving at the reception were Miss Marie Drennan, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Herman Wolpert, sister of the bride- . groom. After a short wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Miller will reside Tn Fort Wayne. Mrs. Miller is head nurse at the Fort Wayne Red Cross office. Her husband is associated with Herman Knapke in a partnership of the Fairway restaurant in Decatur. MONTHLY MEETING IS HELD BY CLUB The Jolly Housewife home demonstration club held its regular -nortthly nsetfting at the Bobo school house recently. The meetfeg was called to older by the president, Mrs. Fern Frey. The creed was repeated and the song of the month was sung by the group. Roll call was answered by 36 members present. Mrs. Frey gave a report on the Purdue conference. Plans were made to entertain the 4-H girls in July with a potluck dinner. Plans were also made for the 4-H fair food tent which will be in August, at Monroe. At the close of the meeting a lunch was served by hostesses. Mrs. Martz received a gift from members of the auxiliary. i MISSIONARY SOCIETY I HOLDS PRAYER RETREAT I The Women’s Missionary soci- - ety of the Church of God met re--1 cently at the church for a prayer - retreat. From there the group went to the camp grounds at Monroe, where meditating was begun by listening to religious records. 'Edna Kirkpatrick gave the scripture and offered prayer. Edith Mattox read a poem entitled “The God Given Upward Pull." Angelia Sharp. Mary Hazelwood, and Jaittfce Agler gave the lessons. ' Following the retreat, the group 1 went to the home of Nellie Morrison for a short business meeting. Refreshments were served to 16 • members and one visitor by the ’ hostesses. W. post will go to the Veterans hospital in Fort ‘Wayne Thursday evening, to give a party for the veterans. All those wishing to attend are asked to be at the post no later than 6:15 o'clock where transportation will be provided. Those people who were solicited for cakes are asked to bring them to the home iftthey are not intending to go.

Rose Bilderback Is Bride 1 Os Larry Bolinger Miss Rose Ann Bilderback was married to Larry Lee Bolinger Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the Willshire Methodist church. The Rev. James Hipkins officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Thelma Bilderback of route six, Decatur, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Little of route one, North Manchester. The niusicale was presented by Mrs. Carrol Geisler and Miss Suzanne Kuhn. The bride chose a dress of imported Swiss organdy over satin, with an eyelet cummerbund. Her shoulder length veil of illusion was held in place by a satin headpiece studded with pearls and rhinestone. She carried a white Bible topped with a white orchid and lillies-of-the-valley. Miss Jayne Schafer attended as maid-of-honor in a street length dress of imported Swiss organdy over satin with a lilac cummerbund of organdy. Miss Charlotte Nichols was bridesmaid. She wore a gown styled the same as that of the maid-of-honor. Leroy Young was best man and ushers were John Bilderback and Richard Bolinger. The (bride's mother wore a greydress with white accessories and the bridegroom's mother chose a vnay blue dress with pink and navy accessories. MISS BERTHA LANDIS TO WED ROBERT DREW The Ravi and Mrs. Harvey fit. Landis, of North Manchester, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Bertha Jane, to Robert E. Drew, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman I. Drew of Decatur. No date has been set for the wedding. Miss Landis attended high school in Falfurrias, Texas, graduated from McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas, and is presently employed as Adams county home demonstration agent. Mr. Drew graduated from Monmouth high school, served two years in the air force and is attending Ball State Teachers College in Muncie. He is a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. Drew, left today with Miss Juanita Bevelhimer of Anderson- and Miss Jerry Keim, of Indianapolis, fdr a vacation trip through California. A marriage license- was issued Saturday at the clerk’s office in Portland to Jackie B. Tharp of Monroe, route one and-Nora Jaunita Bristol of Portland, route one. Robert G. Failing, Decatur route 5, was cited early Saturday morning by Bluffton city police on a reckless driving charge. He posted 115.75 for his appearance in city court there. Mr. and -Mrs. D. A. Byerly and children Barbara and Dicky of banning, Calif., will arrive in Decatur this week to spend several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Harve sßaker and Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Byerly. Byerly—will attend the Elks convention July 9. in Philadelphia. He Is the exalted ruler of the Elks in Banning. Wesley Hoffman, of Indianapolis, is visiting his sister, Mrs. Eugene Runyon of Fourth and Madison streets. Mrs. Hoffman and daughter are in Arizona, where Mrs, Hoffman is receiving treatments for arthritis. __ Word front Detroit is that Oscar Hoffman’s condition remains serious.
