AMERICAN. LEGION AUXILIARY MEETS The American Legion auxiliary unit +3 meit recently at the Legion home. A short business nieettng was held with Mrs. Frances Monahan, president, presiding. A social hour followed,-cards were played and prizes were won by Mrs. Elmer Darwachter, Mrs. R. C. Hersh, Mrs. Frances Monohan. and Mrs. Martin Zimmerman. Refreshments were served by the committee, Mrs. Wayne Frauhiger and Mrs. Elbert Aurand. The next meeting of the auxiliary will be a potluck dinner on September 13, and installation of officers. HOME DEMONSTRATION CLUB MEETS RECENTLY The Root township home demonstration club met recently at the home of Mrs. Charles John Son. The meeting was opened with the club collect, Mrs. Lee Fleming presiding. Mrs. Harry Stults gave the history of the song of the month, a The safety lesson was presented by Mrs. John Magley on “How to- Lift.” Mrs. Will Schnepf gave interesting highlights on her trip to Purdue. At the close of the meeting the collect was repeated. The door prize was won by Mrs. Herbert Banning. A luncheon was served to 21 members and one child by the hostess, assisted by Mrs, Robert Johnson. '■ “ •* MRS. Several purses were made and .shown among the group of illustrations. Mrs. Chalmer Barkley gave the lesson on safety entitled “How to Lift.” A report on the Purdue conference was given by Nellie Price, Mrs. Thearl Stult’s, and Mrs. Donald Smith. At she close of the meeting refreshments were served to 20 members, two visitors, and 13 children. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Barkley, with Mrs. Glen Roughia as the assisting; hostess. The meeting was closed with the club collect.
