DECATUR GARDEN CLUB MEETS TUESDAY \ Mrs. A. R. Ashbaucher was has* tesa to the Decatur Garden club . * Tuesday afteraoon, with 21 members present. Mrs. WUllam Kohls, president, was in. charge of the business session at which time reports of the recent flower show, sponsored by the Decatur and Rose Garden clubs, were made. Mrs. Hersel Nash, state per®onrt3l chairman, gave her report of the state board meeting, which she attended at the Warren hotel in Indianapolis on Monday. “Native Aristocrats” was the sub- \ ject of the lesson presented by 'Mrs. O. L. Vance. Even the dandelion has. become important to the research scientists in their search for a cure for polio. Special project for the meeting ‘was flower arrangements. Mrs. Nash received the prise for her entry, using one rose with foliage. During the social hour a floral contest was enjoyed with Mrs. Roy Runyon receiving the prise. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Vance. Mrs. Carl Centlivre entertained with a dinner party recently at the Ft. Wayne country club for her son, Charles Ehinger of Decatur, who celebrated his birthday, and Mr. and Mrs. James Ehinger, who celebrated their third wedding an- _ niversary. The Jolly Housewife home dem- • onstration club of St. Mary’s township will have their regular monthly meeting at the Bobo school house Tuesday evening at 7:30 o’clock. The Kirkland Ladies dub will meet Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock in the home economics room of the Adams Central school in Monroe. "

The voluntary work was done for county commissioner Kintz and his family because of the death bf their son, William. Other farm work was done by the volunteers during this week. I Teenage Dance Al Center Friday Night Will Climax Youth Day At New Center The ,Teenage dance first to be held in. the new Youth and Community Center, will highlight a day of youth activities at the Center Friday. The dance scheduled for 8:30 o’clock tomorrow night will be free and “Spec” Hebble's orI chestra will provide the music. In addition to the free dance. I there will be plenty entertainI ment, including exhibition dancing I and special orchestra numbers. I The entire building ylll be used I by the Teen-agers. ! All young people of the community are invited to Xhe affair and the committee pointed out that the game and recreation room . would remain open for those who , did not care to dance. The dance will be held in the ' main auditorium and seating has ■ been arranged around the floor for ' spectators. The entire evening is strictly for the young people. The band, for the dance is befng furnished by the Musician's Union, ' it was announced. Every young man and woman in the community Is Invited to attend the affair. Elks Stag Picnic Scheduled Sunday Tickets for the annual stag picnic of the Deeatur Elks lodge may be Obtained at the lodge’s club rooms on North Second street. The picnic will be held Sunday at Pete Meyers’ woods, south of Decatur. Dinner will be served, starting at II o’clock, and entertainment and refreshments will be provided throughout the afternoon, with supper served in the evening. Little Change In Jobless Pay Claims TNDIANAPiOLIIS (INS) —The Indiana employment security division reports little change in the weekly volume of unemployment insurance claims. Director William C. Stalnaker said the division Received 23,871 claims last week, approximately the same as the week before. Horwever, he added the figure was about 60 per cent under the 66,894 total claims filed the same week of 1954. GM Plant Closed By Wildcat Strike DETROIT (INS) —The General Motors transmission plant at Willow Run was shut down Wednesday night by a wildcat strike staged by tool sharpeners still dissatisfied by the recent GM three year contract.
