State Involved In Bridge Financing May Help .To Build Bridge To Kentucky INDIANAPOLIS (INS) — Indiana apparently is involved in interstate bridge financing today. Governor George N. Craig has told Kentucky governor Lawrence Wetherby that Indiana possibly could put up $2,500,000 in state funds to help construct a new Louisville-New Albany toll bridge. The two states would buy bonds and would be repaid out of bridge toll collections, according to the plan. Indiana would build the bridge approaches on the north side and Kentucky those on the south side. , Governor Craig opposed reimposing tolls on the Clark memorial bridge between Jeffersonville and Louisville to finance new bridges in the Louisville region, saying the plan might destroy public confidence in Indiana's toll road program. The Jeffersonville Chamber of Commerce and the Louisville automobile club are opposing strongly the reimposing of the tolls.
