, Revive Military : Reserve Measure House Leaders Heed Eisenhower Appeal ' J WASHINGTON (INS) — House , leaders heeded President Eisenhower's appeal for "another try” ' and prepared today to revive the administration's dormant compulsory military reserve bill. The measure has been pigeonholed In the house since Rep. Adam Powell (D-N. Y.) pushed through a civil rights amendment to the bill on May 19. Sponsors feared to press for a final vote in the belief southern members would combine with the bill’s opponents to defeat the legislation. Since then the President has urged the importance of favorable action without further delay. He termed the Powell amendment, which would bar the assignment of reservists to segregated national guard units, "extraneous.” Friday, the President added another note of urgency when he said the most important thing he had learned from the three day mock atomic attack on the U. S. was the need for his reserve program. He said: "One reserve training battalion in the proper place is

An effort will then be made to pass the bill. Committee chairman Carl Vinson (D-Ga.) said he will issue a statement on the reserve program Tuesday when his group meets. The new bill will probbaly be reported during the week, possibly the same day. Woman Injured In Fall From Wagon Mrs. Lloyd Kiess of route one sustained injuries when she fell from a haywagon at about 8:45 a.m. today at her home in Ropt township. She was taken to the Adams county memorial hospital where she is suffering with head lacerations, a skull fracture and tured wrist. Her condition was described as good. The busy emergency room of the local hospital also admitted another patient, John Lose, young son of William Lose, Jr., of North Sixth street. The boy sustained a tad head laceration when he was accidentally hit this, morning while he was playing.
