PINOCHLE CLUB HOLDS MEETING Eleven members and one guest met at the home of Mrs. Herb Banning for pinochle. Five games were played and prizes were won by Mrs. Buford Dull, Mrs. Hugh Engle, Mrs. Raymond McDougal and Mrs. Bill Porter. Mrs. Porter received th’e traveling prise and Mrs. Paul Hammond was the guest Mrs. Jerome Keller gave a report and a discussion followed. The

Alice E. Werling Is Wed Recently To Carl A, Witte Miss Alice Evelyn Werling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reinhard Werling of route one. Decatur, was married recently to Carl A. Witte, son of Mrs. Paul Witte and the late Paul Witte. The marriage took place in the St. Pauls Lutheran church in Preble with the Rev. O. C. Busse officiating at the doublering ceremony. Beauty vases of white glads, mums and candelabra adorned the church altar and white bows and greenery marked the pews. The aisle was laid with white carpet. Mrs. fF..C. Schmieger presented the organ music £nd Immuel Schmidt was vocalist. Miss Werling chose a gown of white nylon... tulle and chantilly lace. The open portrait neckline was edged with scalloped chantilly lace. The long lace sleeves pointed over her hands and the tulle dian pleated tulle with a lace Her bouffant skirt was beautified with panels of nylon, tulle edged with hand clipped chantilly lace; She wore a plateau hat of accof“ 'dlcn' pleated tulle with a law crown edged with .pearls which ‘W<The'r bridal veil of’silk illusion.’ The veil was scalloped and edged with appliqued roses. an orchid for her bridal bouquet. — Mrs. Edgar Rekeweg, sister of the bride, attended as matron-of-honor. She wore a floor length gown of powder blue crystalette fashioned with, a softly folded shawl collar .and a princess cut torso waistline with a full gathered skirt. Her powder blue looped Straw headband was touched with rhinestones and a tiny eye veil. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Hilbert Witte and Miss Miriam Selking. Connie Wiegman and Judy Scheumah were the flower girls. The bridesmaids wore gowns styled the same as that of the matron-of-hon-or. The flower girls wore candy pink crystalette gowns with off the shoulder bertha collars. All the bride’s attendants carried pink painted daisies with streamers of rosettes falling froth the basketlike bouquets. Hilbert Witte attended his brother as best man and Leßoy Werling and Wayne Werling seated the guests. The bride's mother chose a navy dress with pink accessories and a corsage of pink rosettes while the bridegroom’s mother wore a navy dress -with black accessories and a corsage of pink rosettes. A receptioa was held immediatelyl following the ceremony. 'Servers included Miss Delores Brubaek of-mrdner. W-?- TWlss ’Bartene Bohnke, Miss Ruth Ann Werling, Miss Helen Woebbeking, Miss Betty Ann Meyer, and Mrs. Wayne Werling. Mi& Virgene Selking and. Miss Marilyn Kiefer took care of the gifts. For her going away apparel the bride chose a turquoise dress with white accessories. XVhen they return from a honeymoon trip through Michigan and Canada they will reside on route one, Craigville. PSI IOTA XI SORORITY HOLDS INITIATION A banquet was held Wednesday, evening at the Zion Lutheran parish hall by the Psi lota Xi sorority. The “Address of Welcome” was given by the toastmistress, Mrs. Jane Reed. coming year was conducted by the outgoing president, Mrs. Bonnie .Lehman. Following the installation Helen tßydell, the new president, gave a speech. Several humerous skits were presented by the pledges who are: Nola Isch, Sheila Ahr, Jeanette Hahnert, Joyee Embler, Kay Borman, Rosemary Gase, Ann Durkin, Eileen Gentis, Ruth Weigman, Hazel Roberts, and Nita Osterman. The candlelight initiation service was conducted by initiation officers Madeline Shell, Karen StrP ker, Colleen Heller, Marilyn Smith, and Barbara Osterman. ' The candlelighting services were conducted by Faye Holthouse. The decorations consisted of tie statues of artists on the tables and a large mannequin on the stage. Flowers and candles were jfdaced on the tables and packages of note paper were at each place. HOME DEMONSTRATION WOMEN TO PURDUE Fifty-eight home demonstration women will leave Adams county early Tuesday morning for their annual Purdue summer conference. Over SOO women will be attending from the entire state. The theme of this conference is “The Role of Women in the Changing World.The general session Tuesday afternoon will be on “Today’s Woman,” With Eva L. Goble, head of home economics extension department presiding. In the evening, travel pictures of the Holy I .and will he shown by Mrs. George Enfield of West Lafayette. This will be followed by an old fashioned party. ,On Wednesday Dr. Harold T. Christenson of Purdue University will discuss “Courtship Guidance for Today’s Youth.” Also on Wednesday, Dr. Jules Labrathe, Mellon institute of industrial research. University of Pittsburgh, will present an illustrated lecture on ’’Being A Good Consumer of Fabrics.” He will show that consumer si»ip is buying plus using or consuming in the best way. Other meetings offered on Wednesday include “Keeping up with Fbods in the Market,” “Round-Up of Research,” “This is My Kitchen and “What’s New in Foods.” Wednesday evening all county home demonstration choruses will be combined to furnish entertainment at the hall of music.. The entire Adams county chorus' and their director, Mrs. Martin Neunschwander of Berne, will be present to participate in this event. Thursday morning Anna K. Williams, specialist in better farming and better living, Purdue, will preside at the last morning session, “A Look at Your State Government.” Dr. John WL Hjcksk, assistant to the president, Pdj£ due University, will disTuss “The Signifance of the Action of the State Legis9atttre* 'in the Meeting Problems of the Time.!’ John V. Barnett, director, of state taxation department, will speak on “Current and Future Problems in State Government.” The conference will conclude Thursday afternoon with the installation of officers and a talk by Mrs. Clarence Benadum, Muncie
