LEGION AUXILIARY HOLDS ELECTION OF OFFICERS The American Legion auxiliary unit 43 held their regular business meeting Tuesday night. Mrs. Frances Monahan, president, presided. (Reports were given by Mrs. Ed Bauer, Mrs. Elmer Darwachter, Mrs. T. C. Smith, Mrs. Ralph E. Roop, and Mrs. Herman Dierkes. Election of officers was held and those elected were: Mrs. Harve Baker, president; Mrs. Wilson Beltz, first vice-president; Mrs. Clark Flaugh, second vicepresident; Miss Eileen Selking, third vice-president; Mrs. T. C. Smith, corresponding and recording secretary; Mrs. Ralph E. Roop, treasurer; Mrs. Verena Meyers, chaplain; Mrs. Anola Crist, ser-geant-at-arms; Mrs. Elmer Darwachter, historian; executive board, Mrs. Frances Monahan, Mrs. Ed Bauer, and Mrs. Herman Dierkes. Delegates elected for the 36th annual department convention of the American Legion auxiliary which will be held at French Lick, August 12, M, and 14 were Mrs. Monahan. Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Bauer, and Mrs. Dierkes. Alternates are: Mrs. Vincent Borman, Mrs. Flaugh, Mrs. Roop, Mrs. Beltz, and Mrs. Lawrence Rash. The Installation of officers will be held in the Legion home Tuesday night, September 13. The next social meeting will be held June 28, with Mrs. Wayne Frauliiger as chairman. FARM BUREAU MEETS AT MONMOUTH "Guardians of Sacred (Liberty,” was the topic presented by Judge Myles Parris, at the meeting of the Root township Farm Bureau. The meeting was held recently at Monmouth and was opened with group singing. Devotions were led by the S. and E. leader. Summer cautions on driving were given and prizes for the were won by Omer MerrimaMrJudge Parrish,, and Herman Franz.

The annual Farm Bureau picnic will be held at Lehman’s park in Berne on July 10. At the close of the meeting, refreshments were served to 35 members by Harold Bulmahn and Martin Bultemeier. The pet and hobby children also held their monthly meeting. ’ The Decatur Garden club will meet with Mrs. A. R. Asbbaucher Tuesday afternoon at 2 'o’clock. Mrs. O. L. Vance will be co-hostess and each member is asked to bring a display of floor arrangements. Correction The Adams county chorus will meet Monday night at 7:30 o’clock at Monroe. Everyone is asked to be present to complete plans to go to Pjirdue to sing on Tuesday at the summer conference.

Committees Listed For Dedication Week Two additional committes were named today by Glenn Hill, general chairman for dedication week of the Youth and Community Center next week. James Borders, chief of police, will be chairman of the parking committee and sheriff Merle Affolder and several state police officers will assist in the parking problems. Clyde Butler and Dick Macklin are co-chairmen of the committee to provide tables and chairs for the various events during the week. Assisting the two chairmen will be Everett Hutker, Glen Mauller, Eugene Beam, Rollje Ladd, Victor Braun. John Zintsmaster, Lewis Beery, Harry Knapp, Louis Laudrum, Vaughn Hilyard and Gene Rydell.
Ronnie Vetter Wins Kroger Scholarship Ronnie Vetter, son of the Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Vetter of near Decatur and a graduate of Decatur high school, has been awarded a Kroger scholarship to Purdue University, it was announced today by Jean Harvey, executive secretary of the Purdue committee on scholarships. The award amounts to S2OO and is limited to new students. Nominees for the scholarship were decided by regularly conducted Purdue entrance examinations. „Vetter will enter Purdue next fall as a freshman in agriculture. The Kroger awards are limited to agriculture students. Earl and Robert Sprague were among the 24 naval reservists who left Sunday for the Great Lakes naval training station in Illinois. They will be gone for two weeks on active training. The Sprague twins are taking training to become officers in the navy. Arthur W. Schamerloh, of Decatur, drove to Van Wert, 0., Saturday evening and parked his car on east Central avenue. When he went to get it he found the left side and a fender badly damaged. It is believed it was scraped by a car parked alongside of it. Harold Barger has filed suit in the Wells circuit court to force .the payment of a previous ’dodrt judgment against Willis H. Dettlnger. It is alleged by the plaintiff that Jacob Barger, now deceased. secured a judgment there against Dettinger for $2,043.76 in June 1945. The plaintiff seeks to recover $3,270.01, which includes interest. Gallivan & Hamilton are the attorneys for plaintiff. Berdell Lehman, of Berne, was fined $5 and costs, totaling $2.0,50, in justice of the peace court at Bluffton a traffic light. Miss Joyce Tyndall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. (Ralph Tyndall of Bluffton, who graduated this month from Miami University, will go to California in (he fall to be a public school teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rumschlag are visiting today with their son, Donald, at Indiana University. He is attending Hoosier Boy’s State, sponsored by the American Legion. Virginia Breiner At Michigan State East Lansing, Mich., —'Miss Virginia Breiner, a graduate of Indiana University and a native of Decatur, Ind., recently was appointed instructor of nursing education at Michigan State College. Mias Breiner received the B.S. degree in education at Indiana in 1949 and is now completing work for the M. S. degree at the University of Chicago. Before coming to Michigan State she was a science instructor at Jewish hospital asoeiation, Cincinnati, and at Springfield City hospital school of nursing, Springfield, Ohio. ’
