Hits Compromise On Foreign Trade Blasts Eisenhower Acceptance Os Plan Washington <ins> — Rep. Wilbur Mills (D Ark.), charged today that President Eisenhower has “surrendered to the protective tariff wing of his party.*’ Milla issued the blast as he and other house members prepared to work out a compromise with senata conferees on the President’s foreign trade bill, which is designed to expand international trade by lowering tariff barkers. The Arkansas Democrat, an ardent supporter of this program, based his charges on Mr. Eisenhower’s acceptance of senate amendments to the measure which Mills insisted would limit, not increase, the flow of goods In foreign trade. Mills declared: “I think the President was ill advised to say he would accept these amendments. 1 am still disturbed about their effects, and I believe any supporter of more liberal trade in the free world will find it difficult to accept these amendments.” But house conferees indicated that the Chief Executive’s acceptance of the senate changes has made it impossible for them to insist on the version of the bill approved by the house. This was the form in which Mr. Eisenhower originally requested the legislation. It would extend the reciprocal trade act for three years and allow the President to cut tariffs up to five per cent annually during that time. Charge Failure To Support Children Chester F.
