’ The banquet was planned by the men and boys of the church. • Seventy-five mothers and daughi ters enjoyed the banquet and inter- , esting progra'm which was planned , by the chairman, Robert Light. Mrs. William Noll was awarded a price for having the most daugbi ters. Mrs. Leland Ripley was . awarded a prise for having the birthday closest to the fourth of July. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Chase played I music throughout the evening. GIRL SCOUT ASSOCIATION MEETS RECENTLY*' -4 The Decatur Girl Scout association held their May ineeting at the American Legion home. A few moments of silent prayer were observed before'the business meet--1 ing. Mrs. Chester Dalzell, president, presided. : 1 A report on the presidents’ convention held in Chicago, was given , by Mrs. Chester Dalzell and Mrs. , Doyle Collier. Final reports and plans on the 1965 Girl Scout day camp were given by Mrs. Bryon Smith. Gifts to the Girl Scout room, in the new Community Center were accepted by the association from the donors, Mr. and Mrs. J. Clark Mayclin and Mr.'and Mrs. Virgil Krick. A gift to the Girl Scout day camp by Miss Grace Lichtenstiger was also acknowledged. Mrs. C. I. Finlayson gave a report on the Girl Scout room in the Community Center. The Girl Scout association has given 3700 for the purpose of equipping this room. I EAGLES AUXILIARY IN SPECIAL MEETING The special meeting of the Eagles auxiliary was opened by be president, Mrs. Richard Baker. Plans were completed for the district four meeting to be held in the local Eagles hall, Saturday at 2 o'clock. Auxiliaries from Fort Wayne Bldffton, Marion. Peru, Wabash, and Portland will be represented at this district four meeting. PREBLE FARM BUREAU HOLDS MAY MEETING The Preble township Farm Bureau held their May meeting recently at the Friedheim school. Roger Koeneman member of the rural youth, opened the meeting with a poem and a prayer honoring mothers.

Mrs. Ivan Worthman, S. and E. leader, led in group singing and read safety rules on highway safety. Bob and Max Yoder, rural youth members, gave several special numbers on their electric guitqr and accordion. Miss Bertha Landis, home demonstration agent, gave a very interesting talk on highway safety. Refreshments were served by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bauermeister and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schroeder. MERRY MATRONS CLUB MEETS TUESDAY NIGHT The Merry Matrons home demonstration club met at the home of . Mrs. Otto Thieme Tuesday evening with 12 members, one guest* and seven children present. Mrs. Julius Lengerich welcomed a new member, Mrs. Amos Thieme, into the club. Mrs. Amos Thieme and Mre. Norvan Thieme assisted the hostess in serving refreshments. The meeting was opened with the song of the month led by Mrs. Wilbert Thieme. Miss Bertha Landis presented a lesson on “Table Manners and Hostessing,” and Mrs. Edward Gerbers gave the lesson on health and safety. The meeting closed with the club prayer. Next meeting will be June 29, at the home of Mrs. Wilbert Thieme. ROSE GARDEN CLUB ATTENDS FESTIVAL The Rose Garden club attended the wooden shoe festival at the Kado-Lato farm in Spencerville, 0. The members took a hayride trip through the sassafras groves and maple sugar camp and listened to a lecture by Mrs. Carl Hartz, owner of this farm, explaining the flowers in her speacious garden/' 1 Dinner was served on the ground, after which the group went to Bluffton where they visited the Cook farm and the Long Island iris farm. Those who attended were: the Mesifamies Paul Daniele, Ralph Roop, Harry Stults, Grover Levy, Frank Crist, Bert Haley, George Sprague, Clem Kortenber, Dell Walters, Mary Arnold, Mell Kreps, Alva Lawson, L. E. Archbold. Vera Gause, Harry Hebble. George Squier, Dale Moses, and Mr. and Mrs. William Kohls. The Delta Lambda and Xi Alpha XI chapters of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at the home of Mrs. George Bair Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock. The Emblem club will have in stallation of officers and a dinner Monday evening at 6:30 o’clock at the Elks home. The Union township home demonstration club will meet Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Warren Nid--1 Inger with Mrs. Donald Smith as assisting hostess. The lesson #lll be on making purses. Members are urged to attend the mecUsg and note the change in date. The American Legion auxiliary unit 43 will have a social meeting Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at the Legion home. Games will be played and refreshments served. Mrs. Nelson Doty will be chairman. Mrs. Irene Stucky of Fort Wayhe, will be hostess to the Past Matrons club Thursday evening at 8 o’clock. The Missionary church will have a mother-daughter tea Friday evening at 7:30 o’clock in the church parsonage. At the Adams county memorial hospital: Mr. and Mrg. Ray McKean of Ossian are the parents of a baby boy born today at 12:25 a. m.. weighing seven pounds and four ounces. A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Raul Morales, of Decatur today at 1:18 a. m„ weighing six pounds and 8 1 ? ounces. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ross of Decatur are the parents of a baby girl born today at 2:43 a. tn., weighing six pounds and ten ounces.
