Seniors Honored Thursday With Annual Formal Banquet, Dance “Cross Over the Bridge” was the theme of Thursday night’s banquet,. program and dance when the junior class of Decatur Catholic high school entertained-members of the graduating senior class. The prom, which is an annual affair, took place in thd beautifully decorated auditorium of the school. Deep blue and pink with white
was the central color theme. Focal point of the decoration was the stage which featured a bridge of the deep blue. The bridge was decorated with sprigs of artificial appleblossoms. White picket fencing enclosed the area at each- end of the bridge. to a table, were set up in the auditorium. The table centerpieces carried out the central theme of “Cross Over the Bridge” with small blue bridges on silver place mats. The favors at each place setting were nut-cups featuring stand-up figures of boy or girl graduates. Following the banquet was a program in which the juniors entertained the seniors. Main feature of the program was a take-off of the television program “I’ve Got a Secret.” In this each junior impersonated a senior and the seniors formed panels to determine the “secret” of th? impersonators The p;o|ram also included talks by the senior class president, Tom Titus; the junior class president Jack Zehr, and the Very R ev Msgr. J. J. Seimetz. Eleanor Wemhoff; R uth Lengerich. Hugh Hoyt, Ronald Miller, Pat Teeple and Steve Litchfield. The dinner -was prepared by mothers of members of th? junior class. For the remainder of the eve ning, guests at the formal affair danced to the music of Spec” Hebble and his orchestra. Parents of the host and guest class members were also invited to attend the dance. The junior-senior prom at De catur Catholic is an annual affair All of the work of preparation was done by members of the junior class under the direction of Sr M. Febronia C.S.A. CHURCH CLASS HOLDS Potluck dinner The Berean class of the First Baptist church held a potluck dinner at Hanna-Nuttman park Thursday evening at 6:30 o’clock. Prayer was offered by the Rev. Stuart Brightwell, games were played, and the door prize was won by Esther Young. r ■ , - A short business meeting followed and those present included Rev. Brightwell, Irene Gephart, Mary Ann Fulton, Ruby Rambo, Alice Lake, Esther Young, Nettie Morris, Adelaide Amick, Nancy Lingerich, Laura Lee, Jerry Luhman, and the guest, Carol Lee. BUSINESS MEETING HELD THURSDAY The Decatur chapter 625 of the Women of the Moose, held a business meeting Thursday evening at the Moose home with Mrs. Robert Judd, senior regent, presiding. The auxiliary, with the Loyal Order of the Moose, will meet at the Moose home, Sunday at 2:30 o’clock, to conduct memorial services. All officers, escorts, and chairmen, are asked to be present Co-workers and friends are invited to attend. The nominating committee will meet at the home of Mrs. Robert Judd Tuesday, May 17, at 7 o’clock •Reports to be turned in at the next meeting. May 26, are Mooseheart alumni, publicity, hospital ritual, and library. Mrs. Gerhard Marbaugh will be in charge of the social hour. STATE CONFERENCE OF JUNIOR AUXILIARY The Juniors of the American Legion auiliary unit 43 will attend the state conference at Indianapolis. Saturday. The conference will open at 10 a.m. in the War Memorial building with Mrs. Robert Hoey, department president, NewHaven; and Mrs. Roy E. Owens,
Princeton, as the general chairmen of the event. Special guests will be Mrs. Omar McMahin, department president of Illinois and Mrs. Forrest Wood, department junior activities chairman of Illinois. Another highlight of the conference will be a tea with Governor and Mrs. George Craig and Miss Marjorie Craig at their official residence. Projects of the Junior auxiliary will be on display. showing their activities in Pan-American studies, craft work, histories, and charitable endeavors. Those planning to attend from the Decatnr Junior auxiliary are: Miss Marilyn Braun, president; Miss Judy Byer, vice-president; and Miss Angela Andrews, chaplain. Mrs. Ed Bauer, unit'activity chairman; and Mrs. T. C. Smith of the senior auxiliary, will accompany the Juniors. SORORITY .CHAPTERS ENTERTAIN MOTHERS Epsilon Sigma chapter and XI Alpha lota exemplar chapter of Beta Sigma Phi entertained their mothers and guests at the Elks home Wednesday. A buffet supper was enjoyed by everyone. Nicely arranged flowers were placed throughout the rooms and at each table were potted plants which were presented to the honored guests. After the buffet supper, Mrs. Vernon Krugh read a poem "My Mother.” Later in the evening games were enjoyed by the honored guests and members. RUTH CIRCLE MEETS WITH MRS. HIGH The Ruth circle of the Pifesbyterlan church met at the home of Mrs. Ernest High recently. Mrs. Gene Rydell conducted the business meeting. Devotions were given by Mrs. Calvin Magley. Mrs. Fred Patterson presented a review of the book “Man and God in the City.” Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Dayton Swickard. The Evangeline circle of the Zion Evangelical and (Reformed church met for their monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. LaVern Roth. Miss Eileen Myers was leader for the evening, using as her topic, “Food and Health in India.” Games were played and refreshments were served by the ■hostesses, Mrs. Roth and Mrs. Thomas Garner. The Great Books discussion group will meet Thursday evening at 8 o’clock in the public library. The story book hour will be held Saturday at the library at 4 o’clock The Adams county Coon Hunters club will hold a meeting Saturday evening at 8 o’clock at the Reichert school. The Pocohantas lodge will have a Sue Marlow party Tuesday evening at 7 o’clock at the Red Men hall. All members are urged to attend and to bring a guest. Delta Theta Tau sorority will have a guest night Thursday at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Arnold. A potluck supper wffl begin at 6: 30 o’clock. Mrs. Don Stump will be hostess to the Eta Tau Sigma sorority meeting Tuesday evening at 8 olclock. The Catholic Ladies of Columbia will have a potluck supper Tuesday evening at 6:30 o’clock. Meat and rolls will be furnished. The Psi lota Xi sorority will have a social meeting at the Zion Lutheran parish hall Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock.
