MOTHER AND DAUGHTER banquet held recently T|ie First Baptist church held their mother and daughter banquet recently at the K. bY P, home. The theme of the program was ' indiafls.’’ The menu and table decorations -were carried out in Indian style-. The invocation was given by Mrs. Hope Mayer. Mrs. Harry Hakes led the group singing and Miss Linda Gamsby accompanied. The welcome was given by Mrs. Bryce Daniels, and Miss Jane Grimm gave the response. Mrs. Madge Lobsiger presented a vocal solo. A reading was' given by Miss Gw.en Hilyard and a song was sung by a trio consisting of Miss wis Metzger, Miss Cecelia Lehman and Mrs. Grace Hakes. A whistling solo was then presented by Miss Lois Metzger. Mrs. Weldon Soldner, mistress of ceremonies, presented awards tp the following: Mrs. Hila Murray, Mrs. Tom Butler, Mrs. Barkley. FASHION REVUE IS HELD MONDAY NIGHT , Approximately 300 people attended the fashion revue last even- \ ing which was held at the Moose | home at 8 o’clock. The revue was sponsored by the Tri Kappa sorority in order to raise money for I the dental clinic project. Tri Kap- • pa has spent well over S2OO in the , past two years for dental care of i children whose parents are not i able to afford it. Mrs. Mary Jane Runyon intro- ! duced Mrs. Hayes P. Yeager, who : commentated the fashion revue, j Mrs. Yeager gave a very interesting description of the outfits,
which were modeled, by Tri Kappa members and some of their children. Throughout the revue, Mrs, James Kocher presented music on her vibra-harp. Another feature of the evening was the crowning of the winners of the baby contest. Mrs. Fred Smith was chosen prettiest baby girl and E. W. Lankenau was chosen prettiest baby ’boy. Funds received from this contest will also be used for the dental clinic project. . Tri Kappa wishes to thank everyone wSa contributed in making this revile a success. •'The Methodist church will have a mpther-daughter party Thursday evening at the church at 7 o'clock. Mrs. Elnora Bebout, deputy county clerk, was honored with a farewell dinner at the Parkway restaurant in Berne Mpnday evening. The dinner was attended by 24 women employes of the court house. The honored guest was presented with a gift. A potluck dinner will be featured at the last meeting of the year for members of the Civic Department of the Decatur Woman's club Monday at 6:15 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Giles Porter. Each member is asked to bring a covered dish and table service. Meat and rolls will be provided by the committee. The Zion Lutheran Needle club yill meet Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock in the parish hall. The Xi Alpha lota and Epsilon Sigma chapters of Beta Sigma Phi will have a mothers’ day party at the Elks home Wednesday evening at 6:30 o'clock. The Town aad Country home demonstration club will meet Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Herman Meyers, North Second street. The Union Chapel annual mo-ther-daughter banquet will be held in the church basement with a carry-in supper Thursday at 6:30 o’clock. The guest speaker for the evening will be Miss Ethel Smith, returned missionary from India. The Pythian Sister Needle club met after Temple Monday evening. Following a short business meeting refreshments were served by the hostesses, Grace Weiland, Velma Porter, Ellen Butler, and Averal Stone. Huntington is giving serious thought to a proposal to purchase the old Exchange hotel grounds an converting it into an off-street parking area at a cost of 830,000. They will pay for it, if the idea is accepted from proceeds of parking meters. The state of Indiana and Governor Craig, who are defendants in an injunction suit filed by .the free fair association at Bluffton have filed a demurer to the fair boards complaint. They allege the city has no property rights over the streets wherp the state roads operate and that the authority rests with the state highway commission. Ray W. Joan Crawford Wed To Fourth Husband Veteran Film Star Elopes To Las Vegas LAS VEGAS. Nev. (INS) —Joan Crawford, who has been one of Hollywood’s top film stars for more than 20 years, was married for the fourth time today in a spur of the moment elopement to Las Vegas. She was married at the Flamingo Hotel to Alfred N. Steele, president of the Pepsi Colo Co., whom she has known fo>r more than three years. She gave her age as 47 and he gave his as 52. The couple said they decided at dinner time in Hollywood to elope and they boarded Steele’s private plane for a quick flight to Las Vegas.
