New Service Station Opened On Highway Phillips Station Is Open For Business A brand new, ultra modern Phillips 6S service station is now open for business at the corner of Thirteenth street and Nuttman avenue, Lyle Mallonee and Harry Knapp, owners of the local Phillips lease, have announced. ‘f-.MalloneqNwill manage the new Station foirthe present and Melvin Moßarnes, experienced station operator and mechanic, will assume the managership in the future. The station’s formal grand opening will be sometime in June, with prizes and gifts. While stocking and rearranging are still going on, Mallonee assures the public that they are ready to handle business now. The station, both inside and out, incorporates the latest and fastest methods and equipment. 'Hie building -itself is located in the midst of about one acre of cement drive. Mercury vapor lights are used for night-time illumination antfgive the area a 24-hour daylight appearance. The service area of the station Is quite large and has two separate sections-one for greasing, lubrication and the like and one for washing and waxing. The small frame lift in the lube room has special attachments for firmly anchoring any type car. Air-powered grease guns hang from the ceiling and the compressed air even pushes the hose out for the attendant. Rest rooms are modern tile and have an automatic suction fan that comes on as the light switch is turned on. The display room with its slanting glass windows 'has a complete line of accessories. Four pumps are Installed at the present with room for four more as soon as they are needed. The pumps are mounted on special flexible pipes so in case they are bumped by a car, the whole pump will not be torn out. The modernistic building was constructed by the Bultemeier Construction Company. It is built of Indiana limestone and cement block. Miss Martha Amstutz Is Taken By Death Miss Martha Amstutz, 37, of war Berne, died at 1:35 p m Monday at the Adams county memorial hospital following a short illness of uremia due to chronic nephritis. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Mura Amstutz; two brothers, Noah Bttfle route 2 .and Frederick, of Geteea reMo Wf N*e Meters, NLrs. D. P. Neuenschwander and Mrs Abraham ,L. Lehman of Geneva route 2, Mrs. Anna Miller of Colon, Mich., Mrs. Carl Norr of near Geneva and Mrs. Gilbert Franks of Geneva, and a foster brother, Jce Carpenter of Centreville, Mich. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Thursday at the residence, the Rev. Lester Amstutz officiating. Burial will be in the Moser cemetery west of Berne. The body has been removed from the Yager funeral home to the residence. Men Sought After Abandoning Auto Sheriff Merle Affolder Monday night joined with officers of neighboring counties and state police in a search for two men who stole a car in Richmond and abandoned it in Ossian. The two were seen leaving the car by a state trooper. They were reported to have headed east on ‘Oot. Law men from Wells, Adams and Allen counties and state police thoroughly searched the area but the two eluded them.
