Ville served as best man. A reception was held at the bridegroom's' home following the ceremony, with approximately 40 guests attending. The bride tea graduate of Decatur Catholic high school and is presently employed in the office of the H. P. Schmitt Packing company. The bridegroom attended Monroeville high school and is now seivihg with the U. 3. navy at Norfolk, Virginia. LEGION AUXILIARY BACKS CHILD WELFARE RESEARCH Research into the baffling problems confronting America In regard to its children will be speeded by a contribution being made this year by the American Legion auxiliary to the new child welfare foundation of the American Legion, according to Mrs. James Baker, child welfare chairman of Adams ,43 unit of the auxiliary. The foundation has been created to encourage scientific study of child welfare problems which have resulted from changing conditions of American life and the vast increase in the number of America’s children., M'r4 Buhler Various research and study projects will be given financial support by the foundation. The local auxiliary unit 43 will
join the 14000 other auxiliary units ■throughout the country in making a Contribution to the foundation. A total of $50,000 is expected to be raised as a special national project for 1953. W. 8. C. S. EVENING CIRCLE “IN RECENT MEETING The W. S. C. S. evening circle one of the Methodist church met in the church parlor Monday evening. During the business meeting Mrs. Carl Gerber announced the appointment of Mrs. William Brown as chairman of the circle for the coming year. Mrs. Virgil Sexton presented the lesson “Eternal Life." Hostesses. Mrs. Richard Parrish, Mrs. C. I. Finlaysop, and Mrs. John Berry, served refreshments to the members and guest, Mrs. Lloyd Cowens, general chairman of the W. S. C. S. The last meeting of the.circle will be held May 20, with a box social for the members and their guests. 1 -—> PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH TO SPONSOR SMORGASBORD The First Presbyterian church will have a smorgasbord Saturday in the church' parlor and the downstairs dining room. ’Prices for adults are slj2s and for children under 12, 50 cents. Mrs. Max R. Spencer is the general chairman. She will be assisted by Mrs. J. F. Samnann, Mrs. Otto Beehler, Mrs. George Bair, and Mrs. John DeVoss.. The decorating committee includes; Mrs. Robert Gay, Mrs. Madge Hite, Mrs. William P. Bchroek, and Mrs. Lawrence Green. Floor chairman for upstairs is Mrs. J. F Sanmann. Downstairs is Mrs. George Bair. Tickets will be available from the Presbyterian ladies and at the door. Smorgasbord tables will be placed in the church parlors and the ownstairs dining room, thereby allowing faster service.
LOYAL DAUGHTERS IN RECENT MEETING The Loyal Daughters class of Bethany E. U. B. church met recently with Mrs. Earl Fuhrman. Mrs. Mary Lynch was assistant hostess. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Lynch. Mrs. Ora Newhard received the attendance gift. Moving pictures were shown, taken while on trip the Fuhrmans had made to Florida and Canada. Lovely refreshments were served by the hostesses. The juniors of the American Legion auxiliary and their mothers will have a carry-in dinner at 6 o’clock Monday evening at the Legion home. The American Legiotf auxiliad held their social night recently with 20 members present. L. R. Willey, superintendent of the Bluffton public schools* suffered' a heart attack Friday, and was rushed to the Wells county hospital where he has been under an oxygen tent. His condition is considered serious. Mrs. Herman Aschliman of Decatur, route four, underwent a major operation at Wells county hospital Tuesday Mrs. Curtis Myers and daughter, Delilah of Middle Point. Ohio, visited over the week-end with her sister, Mrs. Ida Patesei of near Decatur. Mrs. Dwight L. Purdy, of Midland, Mich., is visiting with friends in Decatur ttad Rockford, O. Mrs. Purdy is orghnist of the new Gordonville Methodist ehurch of Midland, where first services were held in the new sanctuary on Easter Sunday. Mrs. Marguerite VonGunten, deputy Adams* county auditor who has been ill at her home in Berne the last week, is reported to be improved. She will be absent from her work for several days yet. Decatur friends have received word that Mrs. George Flanders, well known Decatur woman, who |j (visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Lawrence at Peru, is recovering from a arm. Mrs. Flanders fell at her home here several weeks ago and sustained the arm Injury. After leaving Adams county memorial hospital, the Decatur woman went to Peru for a visit with her daughter. Mrs. Minnie Teeple spent the week-end in Bluffton visiting with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Max Teeple, also Miss Carolyn Teeple of Hammond, who was spending the week-end with, her parents. She also visited Mr. and Mrs. Tom Teeple and daughter Karen of Bluffton. David Baker of 539 N. Tenth street is confined to his home with rheumatic fever. He would appreciate cards from his friends. At the Adams county memorial hospital: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Burkhart of Decatur are the parents of a baby boy born Tuesday’ at 9:20 p. m., weighing six pounds and 12 ounces. District Library - ■ . Meeting On May 4 Bluffton Host To District Meeting The district two meeting of Indiana librarians and library trustees will be held in Bluffton Wednesday, May 4, it was announced today. The theme for all district meetings this year is "Reaching Readers." Miss Clara Sturgis,: Bluffton public librarian and her committees, have arranged an interesting program. The morning session will open at 9 o'clock with an informal meeting for all in attendance to get agtiuainted. At 10:30 a.m., small gnoup meetings will be called to order. This series of meetings includes one for trustees with Carl E. Luginbill, Berne, as the leader; a group for librarians headed by Miss Bertha Heller, Decatur, and a third meeting for staff members with Mrs. Justin Stalcup, of Kendallville, as leader. A half hour from 11:30 a.m. until noon, will be devoted to the inspection of several exhibits and luncheon will be served at the Bluffton Methodist church. The afternoon session will start at 1:45 o’clock and Allan McMahan of Lehman's book store, Fort Wayne, past president of American Booksellers association and a present director of that group, will speak on “Reaching Readers.” This session will be held in the Methodist church parlors. Those planning to attend from Decatur include Miss feller; Miss Etta Mallonee, assistant librarian, and Dr. and Mrs. N. A. Bixler. Dr. Bixler is president of the local board of trustees. GIRL SCOOT Brownie troop eight met at the Lincoln school Tuesday evening after school. Election of officers was held. President, Lynette Dedolph; vice-president. Linda Hershey: secretory and treasurer, Sally Walters; and scribe, Kathleen Kelly. We went outdoors and played games with Brownie troop 23. Scribe, Kathleen Kelly Girl Scout troop four will visit the Coco Cola plant in Fork Wayne Monday, leaving from the high school at 12:45 p, m. Any parents who can provide transportation are asked to call one of the leaders. Troop 14 met after school Wednesday in the Methodist church.

We made receipt books,' and gave them to our mothers at our tea party. Scribe, Shery Price Brownie troop H met Monday after school. The meeting opened by collecting our dues.
