Standing are Phil Ratsor, Muncie, chairman of Christian Fellowship program area and Hugh Smith, Geneva, chairman ot Christian Witness program area. Bomb In Car Proves Fatal For Attorney PORTLAND, Ore., (INS) — A young Portland attorney was blown to pieces late Thursday night when a bomb exploded as he was starting his automobile. Police said Kermit Smith, 34, Was killed, instantly when he stepped on the starter of the car in the parking lot of the ColumbiaEdgewater Golf Club Just outside of Portland about 11:30 p.m. The car was demolished but wires were found indicating a bomb was attached to the car's battery.

Adams County Soldier Aboard Rescue Ship FORT LEWIS, Wash. (Special) —Pte. Samuel Q. Lehman, of Geneva, Ind., was aboard the transport USS Bayfield when it recovere4 all 23 persons from the sea after a Pan-American Stratocruiser ditched off the Oregon coast last month. Private First Class Lehman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tillman H. Lehman, route 1, was returning to Fort Lewis, Wash., after Exercise Surf Board, an amphibious maneuver off the coast of California. Lehman, in the army since August 1953. is a rifleman in Company F of the 2nd. Infantry Division's 38th Regiment. He is a graduate of Hartford Center high school.
