MRS JOSEPH HUNTER HOSTESS TO MEETING The Decatur home demonstration club met at the home of Mrs. Joseph Hunter for their regular meeting with 27 members present. Mrs. Henry Adler gave an interesting report on the sewing school, and a safety lesson was given by Mrs. Floyd Arnold. Mrs. Walter Lister gave the lesson for the dub. A social hour followed with games and refreshments were served by Mrs. Frank Crist, Mrs. George Myers, Mrs. Howard Eley, and Mrs. Harve Baker. „ 'Plans were made for achievement day which is to be in the Decatur high school, June 4, all day with exhibits from , every club and bazaar and bake sale, then a style show and programs during the day. JOHN KIRCHNER TO CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. John Kirchner of Preble will celebrate their golden weeding anniversary Sunday, April 24, at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Lloyd Shackley of 309 south 11th street. They are the parents of four children and one grandchild. Children are: Mrs. Glenn Friedly of Convoy, 0., Mrs. Roger Bebout of Fort Wayne, Erma Kirchner and Mrs. Lloyd Shackley of Decatur.

FRIENDSHIP VILLIAGE CLUB MEETS RECENTLY ■’Don’t forget while you’re cooking, you can still be quite good looking,” was the quotation Mrs. Chester Bryan used as she called to order the meeting of the Friendship Village home demonstration club. The meeting was held Wednesday afternoon at the Kimsey school. After Miss Donelda Marckel led in the singing of the club prayer song, Mrs. Fred Freewalt read the 21st chapter of Mark for devotions. The lesson on “County Roads’’ given by Mrs. Charlie Myers was very interesting with everyone taking part in quiz concerning care and condition of county roads. iMrs. Austin Merriman gave a report on the recent lesson on “Simple Sewing”. During the business meeting, conducted by the president, Mrs. Bryan, it was decided to have a cotton dress and apron revue at the next meeting. There was an offering taken for “Pennies for Freedom” and the club paid {9.50 toward the 4-H stove. During the social hour, Mrs. Harrison Miller won a prize in a flower contest and Mrs. Maurice Miller won the door prize. Lovely, refreshments were served by Miss Donelda Marckel, and Mesdames: Claude Marckel, Don Raudenbush, Leßoy Bollenbacher, and Claude Buchanan. JUNIOR CLASS TO SPONSOR DANCE “The Last Chance Dance,” is the theme of the dance sponsored by the junior class of Decatur high school. The dance will be held tonight in the school gym at 8:30 o’clock. Music will be on record and admission prices will be 15 cents a person and 25 cents a couple. The public is invited. SORORITY ENTERTAINS GIRL SCOUT TROOP Alpha Sigma Chapter of Tri Kappa entertained Girl Scout Troop .Four, whom they sponsbr, with a magician act by Don Brewer. Followed by the awarding of the merit badges to the Seouts by their leader, Mrs. Lester Bundling. Announcement was made by Mrs. Simon Heemstra of the "Vote For the Prettiest Baby” to save teeth contest. The baby pictures are to be displayed his week at Ho'.thouse Drug store where the public may cast a penny a vote for the prettiest baby. The winners to be crowned King and Queen at the" Tri Kappa Fashion Review on May 9, at the Moose Home. Refreshments were served by the hostesses Pat Hain, Sandra Langston. Carol Seitz, and Pat Reichert. The Psi lota Xi sorority will have inspection Wednesday evening starting with a dinner at 6:30 o’clock at the Zion Lutheran parish hall. Officers are to meet at 5 o’clock at Che home of Mrs._Jack Heller of 4211 Bollman street.

Dick of Decatur, became the bride of Arthur Krauss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Krauss of Hoagland, recently in the First Missionary church with the Rev. Harold J. Welty officiating for the double-ring ceremony.' For her bridal gown. Miss Dick chose white chantilly lace over white bridal satttr. The fitted bodice of lace over satin featured a modified scoop neck line and long sheer-fitted sleeves. The full gathered skitt ending in a cathedral sweep was beautified at the hemline with a double duster ruffle of pleated nylon. For her headpiece she wore a tiaraof seed pearls and rhinestones to which was caught, a finger-tip veil of silk imported

She was attired in a maize ballerina length gown with a bouffant skirt featuring a tiny pleated midway on the hip-line and beautified with an applique of hand lace encircling the skirt. Miss Carol ■ Bowman and Miss Helen Krauss were bridesmaids and Brenda Kay Fox was the flower girl. They wore dresses styled the same as that of the maid of honor. Edward Krauss, brother of the bridegroom, attended as best mar. and Delbert Koenemann and Gilbert Bradtmueller were ushers. A reception was held following the ceremony at Reidorf’s with approximately 350 guests present. Servers included; Mrs. Charles Fuhrman, Mias Nora Ray. and Miss Sally Roth. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph J. Roop have returned from Benson, Arizona where they visited With Mr. and Mrs. George Roop and family. While there, they took trips 10’ Tucson, and Mexico, and saw many national, monuments in the mouutains. Cedric Voglewede is spending the week at the Wisdom Fishing camp in Albany, Kentucky. The St. Marys Kekiongas 4-H club held their third regular meeting recently. The meeting was called to order by the president, Glenda Johnson, and the pledges were led by Barbara Jackson and Nancy Bailey. The roll call was answered to "My Favorite Car.” A health and safety talk was given by the health and safety leader, Marabelle Wolfe. A demonstration on frosting a cake was given by Linda King, Kay Bollenbacher, and Carolyn King. There were 34 members and 2 leaders present. Refreshments were served and the meeting adjourned. The Kirkland 4-H club held their first meeting recently at the Pleasant Dale parish hall. Twenty-nine members were present. The following officers were elected: Nolan Griffiths, president; Wayne Byerly, vice-president; Charles Heare, secretary and treasurer; Philip Barger, news reporters, PauL Geemaun and RoHie -Zimmerman; recreation leader, Jimmy Brown; health and safety, De Myron Byerly, song leader. Paroled Burglar Is Charged With Deaths Jury Acts Fast In Mass Killings EVANSVILLE, Ind. (INS) — A 30-year-old paroled burglar was indicted late Thursday for tirst degree murder in a 15-week blood bath that claimed six lives. Leslie Irvin was indicted for the murder of Whitney W. Kerr. 29, who was shot in the head in an Evansville filling station, Dec. 23, and for the murder of Mrs. Mary Holland, 33, also forced to kneel and "executed” in an Evansville liquor store, Dec. 2. The double indictment charges the confessed killer with “unlawfully and feloniously killed and murdered the victims in the perpetration of robbery.” Vanderburgh county prosecutor
