Federal Education Aid Is Denounced Manion Denounces Federal Assistance SOUTH BEND, Ind. (INS) — Clarence Manion, former head of the University of Notre Dame law school denounced federal aid to education Sunday night. Manion said: “Leading educators, in a recent study, were unable to find a state which cannot afford to make more money available to its schools or which is economically unable to support a,n adequate school system. “The general conclusion was that federal aid is not necessary for either current operating expenses for public schools or for capital expenditures for new school facilities.’’ Manion said that if President Eisenhower did not know of this report, he has been deliberately duped and misinformed, and “tricked into 'launching a program based on a non-existent crisis." Then Manion added: “Karl Marx made control of public education one of the Ten Commandments of Communism.” Trade in a Good Town — Decatur
