Flueckiger, •on of Mrs. Helen Flueckiger of Berne, Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock in the Evangelical United Brethren parsonage in Linn Grove/ The Rev. Cecil R. Smith read the vows for the double-ring ceremony. i'he bride wore a corsage of roses and carried a white Bible. Mr. and Mrs. Flueckiger were attended by Marion Bixler and Pat iger, The bridegroom itL.eflaplpyed at the Franklin company ih’Bluffton and the couple will reside in Berne. ATTENDS BANQUET IN CINCINNATI Mrs. Ruther Keller of Decatur, a supreme director of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, went to Cincinnati today to attend a dinner at the .X'etherland-Plaza Hotel honoring Dr. Nora Crotty, the supreme medical director of the C. L. C. who is resigning. Mrs. Frances Gerding of Ottowa, 0., also a supreme director, accompanied Mrs. Keller. All of the supreme officers will attend the banquet.
LEGION AUXILIARY MEETS TUESDAY The American Legion auxiliary unit 43 held their regular business meeting Tuesday evening with Mrs. Verena Meyer, president protern, conducting the meeting. Mrs. T. C. Smith gave a report from state poppy school of instruction at Veteran hospital at Marion. She said that only 80 men at Marion hospital were able to make these poppies, and this is their only source of income. Others are also made at Indianapolis hospital by the veterans. Mrs. Vincent Bormann told how the poppies are made from eight pieces of paper and wire. Mrs. Adrian Baker, rehabilitation chairman, had charge of entertainment at the Veterans' hospital at Fort Wayne for ail the patients. The ones too ill to attend were given light refreshments in their rooms. Mrs. Baker will give a similar party at Irene Byron of Fort Wayne for all veterans who are patients there. There are 25 veterans and each will be given a choice of gifts for himself, wife and family. Mrs. R. C. Hersh, Pan American chairman, gave an interesting talk on Pan America. Panama. On May 15, the auxiliary will observe memorial services. This year the services will be at St. Mary's Catholic church at 10:15 O’clock and all auxiliary mefnbers are asked to attend. On May 30, all members are to be at the V.F.W. home at 9 a.m., for the Memorial Day parade. Troop one of the Girl Scouts sponsored by the auxiliary are asked to attend with the auxiliary. The next meeting will be a social meeting April 2€, with Mrs. Frank Crist as chairman. DIRECTOR OF CENTER SPEAKS TO SORORITY Mrs. Cletus Miller was hostess on Tuesday evening to the Delta Lambda chapter of Beta- Sigma Phi sorority. 0. M. McGeath, director of the new Community Center, spoke to the group about the projects to be offered to the citizens of Decatur and invited them to use the Center. After the opening ritual, Mrs/ Fred Corah, president, presided at the business meeting. Plans were announced for the founders day dinner to be held at the American Legion home on April 28. The chapter decided to donate $2 to the Crippled Children society. Mrs. Jerome Keller presented the lesson on travel and told about a trip she enjoyed through the west. She also showed moving pictures of her trip. At the close of the meeting, refreshments were served and the remainder of the evening was spent socially.
RITA EHRSAM ENGAGED TO WED WAYNE CLOUSE Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ehrsam of Pleasant Mills have announced the engagement of the, daughter Rita, to Wayne Clouse, son of .Mtf. and Mrs. Darrell Clouse of Decatur. . Miss Ehrsam is a senior of Pleasant Mills high school and her fiance attended Pleasant Mills and is now engaged in farming. No date has been set for the wedding. BUSINESS MEETING HELD BY SORORITY Xi Alpha XI chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Mrs. Francis Ellsworth recently for their regular business meeting. Mrs. Ellsworth conducted the business meeting. Mrs. George Bair, general chairman of the founders day banquet, announced that it will be held at the American Legion home Thursday, April 28, at 6: 30 o’clock. Nilah Neil presented the lesson study for the evening entitled. “Value For Money,” and “Competing Against Yourself.” Mrs. Clarence Ziner was appointed council representative and alternate James Elberson. > • • • 2 Refreshments were c served during the social hour which followed by the hostess. Mrs- Robert Lane won the traveling prize. MRS. MINDA BELTZ IS HOSTESS TO CLUB • Mrs. Minda Beltz was hostess to the Monroe Better homes demonstration club Tuesday evening with 17 members and two guests present. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Clifford Essex, and the group repeated the club collect, followed with prayer by Mrs. Rose Hocker. The lesson on “Home Business Our County Roads,” was presented by the leader, Mrs. Martin Steini er, and Mrs. Glen Stucky gave a I report on the lesson, "Simple Sewing.” During the business meeting plans were discussed for the achievement day. It was voted to pay an additional |lO toward th» new stove for the 4-H kitchen. I'he meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. Harry Crownover. During the social hour the hostesses, Mrs. Beltz. Mrs. Otto Longenberger, and Mrs. Claude Laisure, served refreshments in keeping with Easter. Mrs. Rollie Longenberger and Mrs. Mildred Hobbs were-guests for the evening. MRS. FRANK ALTON HOSTESS TO CIRCLE Mrs. Frank Alton was hostess to the Naomi circle of the First Presbyterian church last evening. Circle chairman, Mrs. David Langston, conducted the meeting. Miss Bertha Heller continued the study of Hebrews. Lois Bodkin reviewed and completed the four months discussion of India and Pakistan. Tickets were distributed for the annual smorgasbord dinner, which will be held April 30, at the Presbyterian church.
