Meser, route 1, Berne, Ind., recently was graduated from the I Corp non-commissioned officer academy in Korea. A member of company I of the 7th infantry division’s Wid regiment, Moser received instruction in leadership of units, map reading and other military subjects. Private Moser entered the army In July, 1354. and arrived overseas in January ot this year. He completed basic trainink at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo- Moser is a ISSI graduate of Adams Central high school. Indonesia has 82 million people and about 82 million chickens.

He was resting from a tense and emotion-packed week. He was thinking about the future course ot the Conservative government which he must soon lead into a national election. The new prime minister announced two key cabinet appointments and nine lesser ones Thursday night. In all but one case, the accent was on youth. Eden chose Harold MacMillan to succeed him as foreign secretary. At 81, MacMillaa is three years older than the premier. Judges Named For Soil Conservation Akron, O. —Appointment of four prominent Indiana conservationists who will serve as a judging committee to select the state’s winners in a national annual soil conservation awards program, were .ngmed here today by Goodyear Tire A Rubber Co., sponsor of the program. The judges are: R. O. Cole, extension soil conservationist, chairman, and Donald R SHsson, extension agricultural engineer, both of Purdue University Lafayette; Lester Binnle, state soil conservationist, Indianapolis and Dr. F. E. Kempton, of Centerville. All members of the committee except Dr. Kempton are serving as judges of the national, annual program for the second successive year. Cole has been active in the awards program since its inception, eight years ago.

She had been In a coma most of the time for two weeks. Death was due to abdominal cancer for which she underwent several operations during the last 18 months The retired actress, 62, died at the California Lutheran hospital. She had been there since Feb. 13. Her passing closed one of the most extraordinary careers in an industry that is full of the extraordinary.. From a simple beginning as plain Theodosia Goodman of Cincinnati, O„ she combined slinky brunette beauty and extensive publicity to become world-famed as a ruthless siren who lured men. powerless to resist her, to their ruin. Her screen name. Bara, was simply Arab spelled backward. The public was told, and it believed, that she was an evil, mysterious creature who was born in the shadow of the Sphinx. Her hay day was the period from 1915 to 1920. Everything about her exuded a mystery that men founi irresistible. Women, detested her for her portrayals of the seductive adventuress and ministers reviled her from the pulpit She was stamped the vamp, a contraction of vampire which gave the language a new word, after her most famous film. "A Fool There Was.” The star’s other silent-day screen epics included “Cleopatra,” “Sin," "Serpent of the Nile,” "Romeo and Juliet,” “Salome,” “the Galley Slave,' The Vampire.” "The Vampire Reverie," “Under Two Flags" and “Carmen.” The actress never appeared in a talking picture. Her last picture, "Kathleen Mavoureen,” was made in 1921 and she formally announced her retirement five years later. In the same year her last film was made she married her wealthy director, Charles Brabin, and they lived quietly from then on in Beverly Hills.
