Berlin Leads BERLIN (INS) — Berlin has 250 motion picture houses — more than any other city in Germany. Financed Homes CHICAGO (INS) — The United States Savings and Loan League predicts its member associations will finance approximately 400,000 new homes this year as compared with 335,000 new units in 1953. Trained Relievers CHICAGO (INS) — The Chicago Department of Welfare has opened a new facility. It is a Job training center for unemployed relief recipients. Seven hundred persons can be accommodated and the department will also supervise the placement of persons on work projects. ■ ■■ y in Seven Companies In Reactor Plan CHICAGO (INS) — Seven industrial companies have signed as participants in the nuclear reactor research program at Armour Research Foundation of the Illinois Institute of Technology. Under the reactor plan, each participating firm will make an initial payment of $20,000. In return, the company will share in benefits derived from the nuclear reactor program for three years after the reactor starts operation. The companies are Aro Equipment Co.; Armour & Co.; BorgWarner Corp.; Illinois Tool Works; Richardson Co.; U. S. Steel Corp., and Elgin National Watch Co. Gas And Glamor By Proclamation BAY HARBOR INLANDS, Fla., (INS) — Visitors to the MiamiMiami Beach area now get glamor with their gasoline —by official edict. By proclamation of Mayor Shepard Broad of Bay Harbor Islands, with the usual number of “where-as-es,” and with the gold seal of the town affixed, the Cities Service station on Broad Causeway (named for the mayor) has been christened the "Gateway to Glamor.” Supporting this designation is a pretty blonde hostess who welcomes visitors with free orange juice. The station, on the newest causeway linking Miami with Miami Beach and Bay Harbor Islands, was created for Cities Service by Henry Dreyfus, industrial designer.
