Barbara Kalver and Carolyn Fraubiger each received pin guards for the pins they received in the last chariot race. * • •• » ■. « Ronnie Vetter's essay “Research and the Farmer,’* which won first place in the District VI contest held last month, was judged second place in the state contest held at Purdue last week. Ronnie received a chock for |2O and in addition, his picture and a copy of his essay will appear in a future issue of the “Farmer’s Guide” magazine. • * • • The annual parent and son FFA banquet w’aa held Monday night in the Decatur gym. “Then and Now” was the topic chosen by the speaker for the evening, Elmer Baumgartner, of the First Bank in Berne. During the evening, awards were won by Gerald Grote for outstanding senior, Richard Marbach for over-all contribution to the chapter, Ronnie Vetter for scholarship, Stanley Allison for leadership and Carl Lehrman for attitude. Dewey Plumley of the adult vocational agriculture class was selected by the chapter to receive the honorary chapter farmer award. A special note of thanks to the girls of the FHA, who prepared and served the meal for the banquet. • • • • Featured as the entertainment for the evening was the senior girls sextet from D.H.S. composed of Anita Smith, Dorcas Thieme. Dana Dalzell. Greta Erekson, Sheila Ahr. and Jane Rentz, Jane also provided the dinner music with selections on the piano. * * * * Connie Strickler, Sharon Idlewine, Judy Locke, and Harlan Shaffer, each received certificates of achievement in the international bookkeeping contest sponsored by the Gregg awards department last week. * * • • Yesterday marked the end of the second six-weeks grading period of the second semester. Grade cards will be Issued next Tuesday, April 12. One of the annual events to look forward to is the Variety Show put on by the high school orchestra.
