The Training Camps (By t. N. 8.) By International News Service The Boston Red Sox could hardly be blamed if they decided to forego spring training next year. In 1954. it was slugger Ted Williams who broke his collar bone on the opening day of spring drills and miesed the first month of the regular season. _ Wednesday, shortstop Milt Bolling started the Bosox off on the road to being hard luck champions again when he broke his left elbow in a third-inning collision with St. Louis catcher Dick Rand at Sarasota, Fla. Best advices are that Bolling will be out from six to eight weeks. The Cardinals won the exhibition from the Sox, 5 to 4, and Boiling’s replacement, Owen Friend, committed three errors that paved the way for as many runs. The Sox, incidentally, spent the day in continued denials of the rumor that Williams is expected to report momentarily. General Manager Joe Cronin conceded Ted might have been in camp before now. had he been able to complete a financial settlement with his estranged wife. But as it is, Cronin says he’s heard nothing since he last talked to Ted On Feb. 28. The Cleveland Indians had a touch of injury anxiety, too. Rookie southpaw pitcher Herb Score had his left knee lanced, but a Tucson physician said there Is nothing seriously wrong. Score
