British Suspicious Over Co-Existence British Labor Head Wary Os Red World LONDON (INS) — In Britain almost everybody is talking about co-existence with the Communist world. Some take it lightly. Many are worried. One of the most worried of them all is Arthur Deakin whom (English Communists call their enemy No. 1.

Seated in the chair Ernest Bevin occupied before him, Deakin issued this solemn warning to America: “Consider co-existence if you like but be always vigilant and always remember that Soviet Communism still wants to conquer the world!” He revealed that in the recent trip British Labor Leader Cleihept Attlee made to Moscow, Molotov appealed to him to bring about the return of English labor unions to the World Federation of Trade Unions whose current president is Communist Giuseppe Di Vittorio, boss of Italy’s Red labor organizations. Flat 'No’ “My reply,” declared Arthur Deakin with considerable passion, “whs and is a flat NO because the World Federation of Trade Unions is nothing more than another Instrument and platform for furthering Soviet policy ... as I fouiid out first during our previous association with this body.” Deakin, as General Secretary of the Transport and General Workers’ Union, controls approximately a quarter of Britain’s organized labor of some 8,500,000. And he Is regarded as England’s top antiCommunist. “He arted the people of America to look at the over all picture in France and Italy . . . where the Communists control the largest labor organizations . . . “so that they may get a pretty exact picture of what it would be like in America, or Britain, should Communists get control of labor unions.” When Moscow wants to take over a country by Infiltration, Deakin said, priority attention is given to labor unions. If (Reds can gain cbntrol, the path becomes infinitely easier. The tactics used are “always the same . . . because the Soviets are less imaginative when they are given credit as being”. Inside the individual unions the Red agents use “strong arm methods.” Outside, that is in. labor-management relations, the Communists follow industrial policies which are com-< pletely.mirealisahle ... . but which are Resigned to destroy .the confidence of the rank and file membership in their respective Trade Unions by putting the officers in a discrediting light as incompetents.” Where did he get this information on Red tactics! "Baay,” he explained, “right out of a Communist Party ’policy’ pamphlet," and he added: "The base and basic plan of world Communism is diabolical. It envisages the disruption of industrial and economic life in all free nations. The only difference is one of time in which It can be achieved in the different nations. ”1 happen to know something about , the ramification of international «ltemunisjn..ln jmy association wltlr the World of Trade Unions I noted the trends of the Cominform — natural successor to the' Comintern—and eew how interference there is with the internal affairs of the Individual nations nad how clearly the Communist Parties in the various countries throughout the world are required to observe and Implement the policy laid down by that agency of International Communism.” Trade in a Good Town — Decatur
Determined Oil Program In Israel Search For Oil In Israel Only Begun JERUSALEM (INS) — Encouraging signs leading to hopes of finding oil in Israel were reported by Louis Franklin, president of the Israel-American Oil Corporation. However, Franklin said that no matter what the success of four deep wells now being drilled, "the search for oil In Israel has only begun.” He reported that Israel’s geological history has measured up to all three pt the determinable factors for oil bearing land. He added that the middle east also "has met the basic legal and economic requirements to bring about oil exploration.” The country's petroleum law is comparatively liberal. Israel now imports crude oil. The Haifa refinery is operating at only 25 percent of capacity. Franklin, in an interview at his offices in King David Hotel, Jerusalem, said the existence of an oil pool is actually dependent on four factors. Three can be more or less determined. Those three are: 1. The existence In the geological past of substances from which petroleum could have been formed or generated. "Asphalt seepages, petroleum gas and bituminous rocks give evidence that Israel meets this requirement.' * 2. The existence of rock types in which the oil could have been gathered. “Reservoir type rocks are known to exist in Israel.” 3. The existence of traps or places where otl could have accumulated into oil pools. Franklin said such structures can be seen and mapped in Israel’s southern Negev desert. Similar structures are believed to exist along the coastal plain. The oil company president said

WE keep coining across a good many people who still are surprised when they see the low delivered price of the Buick shown here. They’re surprised because they know that this price is just about what a lot of the smaller cars are asking-if not more. But that’s just the point. What’s making the 1955 Buick the hottest i one in all Buick sales history is the simple fact that its low delivered price buys so much more automobile. Israel's petroleum act meets basic legal requirements to engender oil exploration. Proof of that, he added, "is attested by the fact that American and Canadian oil companies and private investors came to .Israel to begin the search for oil.” r From the economic • point of view, Israel needs oil for internal uses. She today imports more than a million tons of crude — paying high transportation costs. The one unknown — and crucial — geological factor, he said, is whether an oil trapping structure existed in the geological past as the same time that oil actually was formed. Only the finding of a pool would prove that this favorable coincidence had occurred. Eight Independent oil companies have acquired licenses in the country’s four districts. Four companies — after 15 months' exploration work — have selected locations for relatively deep test wells. One of the four deep wells may pay off, Franklin noted. But he added that it is unusual to .find
shops which have long sought a modernistic unit in keeping with their merchandise. Note how glass fiber side panels are carried flush with the cab. The body color is ivory, with cab in brilliant red.
oil without expending morh effort. Discovery of oil today comes about principally from well calculated and closely co-ordinated efforts in geology, geophysics. structure drillings, land requisition and engineering. Franklin added that even if all four deep wells are dry, the search for oil in Israel will have just begun. JOIN! ) o Household Scrapbook BY ROBERTA LEE 0 Brooms and Mops Brooms and mbps should always be hung from the wall. When left standing on the floor the bristles or fibers weaken and rot. Two empty spools fastened to the wall about two inches apart make an excellent hanger. Clean Chimneys The chimneys and flues should be cleaned before any paper hanging is done; otherwise, the new paper will have to be cleaned much sooner. Flavor for Dark Cake Cream several tablespoonfuls of peanut butter with the shortening to give a delicious flavor to cookies or dark cake.
