DISTRICT MEETING IS HELD HERE WEDNESDAY Mrs. Albert Belneke of Kirkland township. Fort Wayne district chairman of the Indiana home demonstration association, presided over the district meeting held at the Decatur Methodist church Wednesday. Mrs. Beineke gave a report of the state board meeting, and also mentioned the different items to be presented during summer conference, at Purdue university, June 21-23. Miss Martha Cullop, assistant state leader from Purdue, presented an interesting talk explaining the various phases of home demonstration activities. Miss Cullop attached cardboard models to a mobile to illustrate her ideas. A skit promoting better citizenship was presented by Mrs. Ther-

All counties in the Fort Wayne district were represented except Whitley. A total of 29 women attended the meeting. EVANGELINE CIRCLE MEETS TUESDAY NIGHT The Evangeline circle of the Zion E. and R. church met Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Rex Nye with 12 members present. Miss -Harriet Gerber was leader for the evening, using as her topic "Work in India." . - The circle had two guests for the evening, Mrs. Forrest Owens and Mrs. Lawrence Rash. Mrs. Owens talked To the group about sending CARE packages to Europe as a project. Refreshments were served by hostesses, Mrs. Nye and Miss Ellees Myer. The meeting was then adjourned. MONROE SOCIETY MEETS RECENTLY Bandages and comforters for an African mission were made by members of the Dorcas Missionary Society of the Monroe Friends church at their meeting Tuesdayevening. MYs. Franklin Oliver was hostess for the meeting which was opened by the president, Mrs. Otho Lobenstein. Prayer was led by Mrs. Clarence Elzey. REBEKAH LODGE TO,MEET TUESDAY The members of the Rebekah lodge will hold a regular meeting in the Odd Fellows ball Tuesday evening at 7:80 o'clock. The 132nd anniversary of the birth of Schuyler Colfax, one of the leading advocates for the establishment of the woman’s branch of the Odd Fellows, which caused him to be known as the founder of the Rtbekah degree, will be commemorated. Plans will be completed for friendship night, to be observed Thursday, March 17, at 7:30 o’clock. Petroleum Rebekah lodge will be hostess with Geneva and Decatur lodges combining as aohostesses, with the lodges of district 31, as guests. AUXILIARY EMPHASIZES COMMUNITY SERVICE Service to the 14,000 American communities in which .units of the American Legion auxiliary are located will be the organization's emphasized activity during March, Mrs. William C. Chew, the auxiliary's local community service chairman, has announced. A w-ide variety of community service projects are expected to be initiated by auxiliary units during the month. In many of their community service projects, auxiliary units work in cooperation with other organizations, Mrs. Chew explained. Especially effective cooperation is given each year to the educational and fund raising activities of the national health organizations. Many units promote community

health through purchase of special equipment for hospitals support of clinics of various kinds aid to 'community nurses, and similar activities. Community beautification projects are widely participated in by auxiliary units every spring. State and national awards «re offered each year to the local auxiliary units best serving their communities. SHAKESPEARE CLUB ' MEETS WEDNESDAY - Mrs. R. c. Hersh was hostess to the Ladies Shakespeare club Wednesday afternoon. Following a brief business session, Miss Frances Dugan presented a review of "Good Morning Miss Dove,” by Frances Gray Patton.
