Fort Wayne's Central Loses To North Side INDIANAPOLIS (INS) -It's showdown time at Indiana's 64 high school basketball sectional sites with some of the deadliest shooters neutralized among, the. bleachers. Fort Wayne Central fell to the third-time curse and Evansville Lincoln stumbled over the unbeaten superstition as the flood of upsets unloosed when the Holland Dutchmen pulled their thumb out of the dike at Jasper continued over Indiana. Central, easily victorious over city-rival North, went down before this same North by a 58-56 count. Lincoln, whose greatest weakness was a weak schedule, couldn't repeat over Reitz and that ended the story at 21 straight. 61-51. Three other unbeaten teams remained in the running. Chesterton got North Liberty on h 54-46 score at Valparaiso and Williamsburg took Fountain City. 49-36, at Richmond. Frahcesville tn the Rochester firing was idle Friday. They are small schools with less impressive records than the Lions of Evansville Lincoln but all fans, coaches and players remember that it was an unheralded band of ■s Indians from Little Milan as what won the whole blinking works last time. Apparently the five starting Indians who won that title and then graduated instilled the spirit in those who followed. The defending champion, Milan, took care of a •'dangerous'’ Batesville. 50-36, at Versailles. At Indianapolis, CrUpus Attucks won an 87-36 game from Manual for the right to play Broad Ripple today and perhaps the winner of the Tech-Shortridge game tonight. Muncie Central, the International News Service title choice, used its regulars five minutes in an 8435 slaughter of little Daleville. Two finalists fell by the wayside in firing, Friday, but no one got too upset because both clubs are down this year. —— Napanee put out the Blue Blaze of Elkhart. 48-47, and Terre Haute —- - -
