Dayton turned down a possible NCAA at-large invitation Thursday night in becoming the second team in as many days to join the fold, which will number 12 when the national invitation tournament’s selections committee completes its work. Under the present rules a team cannot appear in both tourneys. Regional playoffs for the NCAA begin March 7, with the finals set for Kansas City, March 19. This will be the fourtb NIT trip’ for coach Tom Blackburn’s team, which boasts a' 17-3 record with six games remaining. In 1951 and ’52, Dayton reached the finals only to be eliminated by Brigham Young and La Salle, respectively. Last year the Flyers got by Manhattan in the opening round but were eliminated by Niagara. 0 No matter what-teams fill the other ten berths. Dayton is sure to have the tallest player in the tourney—seven-foot Bill Uhl, who leads the club with an average 18.6 points. The Flyers have another big man in 6»foot-8 Johnny Horan, who averages 17.9 points

St. Joe defeated Geneva Junior high, 50-38, leading at all periods, 16-8, 29-19 and 37-30. Wilder poured in 24 points for St. Joe, and Beiry tallied 11 to lead Geneva.
