MONROE METHODIST WSCB IN MEETING The Monrpe Methodist W.S.C.S. held their regular meeting recent* ly in the annex of the church. Devotions were given and Mrs. Gladys Crownover presided over the business session. Mrs. Harold Schwarts and Mrs, Glen Stucky sang a duet, accompanied by Mrs. Homer Wlnteregg. Mrs. Edna Michaels, program chairman for the evening, presented Mrs. Georgia Gage, who told many interesting and entertaining things about her recent trip to Europe and the Holy Land. She also showed many beautiful articles which she had purchased. During her talk she wore an Egyptian fes and a beautiful gold stole. The following hostesses served refreshments to 53 members and guests: Delores Mitchel, Minds Belts, Veda Crist, Elma Essex, Thelma Hendricks, Margaret Lobisger, Bessie Parrish, Fern Rowden, and Belle Walters. HIGH SCHOOL DEBATE TEAM PRESENT PROGRAM Mrs. Randolph Brandyberry was hostess last evening to the Dramatic department of Woman's club. The meeting was opened with the Hub collect, after which Mrs. Paul Hancher conducted the business meeting. The program was presented by the following members of the Decatur high school debate team, Misses Jeanette- Hahnert. Leah Brandyberry, Dana Dalzell, and Carolyn Aumann. Beverly Poling acted as moderator. The-debate teams presented a discussion on the question "Are High School Students Being Properly Trained to Meet Problems of Lifer Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by the committee consisting of Mrs. Jack Rosenburger, Mrs. Watson Maddox, Mrs. David Heller, and Mrs. George Thomas. MEETING HELD BY ROSE GARDEN CLUB The Rose Garden club met at the home of Mrs. Alva Lawson, with Mrs. Paul Daniels presiding over the business meeting. Mrs.

Thurman Walters presented a paper on "God’s Gardener."* New officers for the coming year are: president, Mrs. Bert Haley: vice-president, Mrs. Alva Lawson; and secretary, Mrs. Ray HelleY. Mrs. Cecil Gause had charge of the contest and prizes were won by Mrs. Richard Mailand and Mrs. Paul Daniels.' A lunch was served by Mrs. Lawson, assisted by Mrs. Clarence Smitley. TRI KAPPA ASSOCIATES MEET TUESDAY NIGHT The Tri Kappa associate chapter met last evening with Mrs. Frank Braun. Madge Hite and Fan Hite were assistant hostesses. Mrs. (Fred Smith, president, presided
over the business meeting. Mrs. Roy Kalver presented an interesting account on the progress of the new community building.
Plans for the tea, to be given for the active members of Tri Kappa, were completed. At the close of the meeting refreshments were served by the hostesses. PAST PRESIDENTS PARLEY MEETS Mrs. T. C. Smith and Mrs. A. J. "Baker wefe hostesses to the 'Past Presidents Parley of the American Legion auxiliary unit 43. During the short business meeting plans were made for a dinner to be served to the World War one veterans who have been members of the American Legion for approximately 13 consecutive years. The group has decided to continue to give money gifts to the two adopted nurses. Unit 43 parley will challenge any unit for having the most husband and wife teams, although never serving during the same year. There are 13 past presidents and 12 past commanders. , 'Following the business meeting, cards were played and prizes were won by Mrs. Vincent Bormann, Mrs. Harold Tieman, and Mrs. Frank Linlger. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. Mrs. Lloyd Krelseher and Mrs. Harold Tieman will be the hostesses at the March meeting.
FREIGHTER COOKS SPEAK TO WILLING WORKERS A very interesting program was presented to the Willing Workers class of the First Christian church, by Mr. and Mrs. Sam Robison of Wiarton, Canada. Nine months out of a year, Mr. and Mrs. Robison are first and second cooks on a freight river barge. Thia barge covers all of the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River. They told the group of their many experiences. Mrs. Robison is a sister of Mrs. Edward Anderson. The meeting was held last evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Neireiter. It was opened with group singing and the scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Neireiter. Mrs. Fred Scbeiderer offered the prayer. The business meeting was conducted by the president, Roy Stucky. The next meeting will be held March 8, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Anderson of Wiltshire, O.
MRS. BELL HOSTESS TO RESEARCH CLUB Mrs. C. E. Bell was hostess to the Research club Monday afternoon. A short business meeting was conducted by Mrs. E. H. Cook. Mrs. W. Guy Brown presented a talk on the countries of Sweden and Iceland. Mrs. Paul Edwards was welcomed into the club as a new member. Refreshments were served by the hostess and the next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. B. J. TTBomasTnTWowW — The Merry Matrons home demonstration club will meet with Mrs. Arthur Krueckeburg Tuesday evening at 7:30 o’clock. The Queen of Peace study club will meet with Mrs. Cyril Heimann Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock. The Young Adult class of the Bethany E.U.B. church will have a class meeting at the church Thursday evening at 7:30 o'clock. The Decatur Camera club will meet in the rooms above the Citizens Telephone company office, Monday evening at 8 o’clock. Scribe, Morene Shook Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McMillen of Valley Farms, route six, Decatur, are vacationing at the Hotel Barner in Mexico City, Mexico. Arthur Hurst was admitted to the Adams county memorial hospital and underwent major surgery Monday. He is reported improving. His room number Is 115. Russell Kruetzman, formally of Preble township, has moved to St. Louis, Mo. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William ’Kruetzman. He was graduated from Monmouth high school in 1348 and is also a graduate of Purdue university. Kruetzman is attending Washington university in St. Louis, and is now taking a course in business administration. He recently returned from Korea.

Lebanon Woman Dies In Two-Car Collision ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (INS) —Doris Lucille Hendrickson, 29, of Lebanon, was killed today In a two-car collision at the intersection of a county road and Ind. 334 near Zionsville. Police said the victim apparently failed to stop at a traffic signal. Lawrence Reed, 33, of Zionsville, who was In the other car, also alone, suffered minor injuries. Logansport Man Found Dead In Automobile LOGANSPORT, Ind. (INS) —Funeral services were planned today at Logansport for Michael Redkey who was found dead ip a carbon monoxide filled garage in Indianapolis. The 46 - year -old Logansport man’s body was found Tuesday in his car in the garage. Police said a hose led from the car’s exhaust into the auto and the car’s motor was running. 1 > Control Threats VIENNA (INS) — Soviet occupation authorities are threatening to re-introduce permanent traffic controls at all Russian check points in Austria. The latest threat came with Russian accusations against Austrian gendarmerie officials for “failure to take measures” against the destination of anti-Soviet propaganda leaflets being smuggled into Austria’s Soviet occupation sone. Shining Music CHICAGO (INS)—Music makes children of grade school age shine, according to the American Music conference. It reported that a survey of elementary schools showed that 90 percent of all honor students play some kind of musical instrument.
