• ’•' '’ft*"' r Lenten Services At Zion Lutheran Midweek Services Open February 23 First announcement* of the special midweek. Lenten services at Zion Lutheran church. West Monroe street, were made to the congregation Sunday morning by the pastor, the Rfev. Edgar P. Schmidt. Wednesday has been chosen again as the day for these Lenten Vespers, but this year two services will be conducted each Wednesday evening, at 7 and 8:15 o’clock, to make it more convenient for families with small children and to give a greater number of people an opportunity to attend. Rev. Schmidt will conduct all the midweek services. Special music will be offered at each service by the church choir and the children of the various departments of the Sunday school. The pulpit subject at these Lenten services will center on the "Suffering Christ" Who l by His passion and death effected man’s salvation. Each week the pastor will speak on some phase of the Savior's suffering, applying it to the needs of men today. To assure a full attendance at both services each week the members of the congregation have adopted an "Each One ‘Reach One” motto, inviting their unchurched friends and neighbors to worship with them and “to share with them the Suffering Savior’s redeeming love.” Lent begins Ash Wednesday, February 23. — G.
