Demanding New Vote On Dixon-Yates Pact Sen. Gore Demands Commission Vote WASHINGTON (INS) — Sen. Albert Here- <D-Tenn.) demanded today that the atomic energy commission take a new vote to see whether the agency still favors the controversial Dixon-Yates power contract. Gore's demand follows the declaration of AEC commissioner Thomas E. Murray that the AEC should cancel the contract. The securities and exchange commission disclosed, meanwhile, that it will make a new check’ on the deal. In a telegram to AEC chairman Lewis L. Strauss, Gore noted that the house-senate atomic committee’last week voted 10 to 8 to ask the commission to cancel the contract. The lawmaker said he felt this action put the AEC under “a strong moral and political suasion” to cast new ballots. He told Strauss: “I respectfully insist that the commission record a formal vote upon thep rocedure recommended in the resolution.” Murray's stand in favor of the committee’s recommendation drew a no comment from Strauss but it cast Dr. Willard F. Libby, the third AEC member, in a of a swing-man in any new balloting. It was pointed out that if Libby sided with Murray, a Truman Democrat, the contract would be defeated.
