After a couple of weeks of fair skies it looks like we are really getting ready for old Santa Claus. In other words there are some indications of a white Christmas. ——o 0 Muncie and Connersville are the two latest cities to join the daylight saving time league. They have decided to enter the new time association of Hoosier cities over the weekend. —o . President Eisenhower offers ‘l- - McCarthy some sound advice about starting a new third party. He said in Wednesday's press conference; "You may find that a pretty tough job." 0 0 President Eisenhower displayed great American judgment when he let it bo known he would not stoop to argue with the protege of an old Indian chief, Noisy boy McCarthy. Down in Rio de Janeiro 1,000 doctors are on strike demanding a 20% increase in pay. Invite School Band To Peony Festival The Decatur high school band has been invited to participate next June 8 in the Van Wert, 0., peony festival, a revival of the classic event which was ranked as one of the nation's foremost festivals before it was recessed in 1841. Invitations haw been sent to nearly 100 bands by H. Herbert Jones, director of music for the Van A’ert school system and chairman of the band arrangements for the festival. Spiritual Emphasis week annually attracts hundreds of Decatur cltisens to< the nightly sessions. With a city the size of Decatur, there should be an overflow crowd every nightIt is a week set aside for teaching of the gospel and is well worth the hour spent each night taking part. 0 0 Physician's report to the effect that Simmie Hain, 111, Decatur youngster, who was Struck by an automobile Monday afternoon is out of danger comes as good news to this Young Simmie suffered some head injuries but they are not regarded as serious. Pedestrians and drivers of motor vehicles cap never be too careful. Few traffic tragedies have occurred in Decatur in recent years and this is due to the cautions taken by everyone. Man Is Fined For Public Intoxication Charles Ford, 54, of Bryant route one was charged with public intoxication in justice of the peace court here at 11:30 a.m. today. He entered a plea of guilty and was fined a total of 317. Ford was arrested Thursday at 3'30 p.m. in Geneva by Geneva town marshal Preston Pyle and deputy sheriff Merle Affolder. A companion, James C. Barnhart, 60. of Muncie route two, drove off in a Michigan car and was later arrested for drunken driving in Jay county after minor accident four miles southwest of Portland on U. S. highway 66.
