FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY AT CHURCH The annual family Christmas party of the Union Chapel church \was held recently with a carry-ln supper. The meeting was in charge of the ladles aidx>f the church, with Mrs. Harvey Koos in charge. The program waa opened with Miss Luida Itieschy played an accordian solo. Mrs. George Cramer led in prayer and Mts. Ami ■Miller read the Chriatmas story. Miss Phyllis Smith presented a reading, after which Mrs. Rolland Gllllom and Mrs. Nile Williamson sang a duet. Mrs. Donald Smith gave a reading ind Miss Sara Frank played an accordion solo. Mrs. Koos dismissed the group with prayer. The dining room committee included Mrs. Ami Miller, Mrs. Thurman Drew, and Mrs. C. O. Brown. About 75 attended the meeting. CHRISTMAS PROGRAM BY MUBIC DEPARTMENT The Music department of the Decatur Woman’s club will present their Christmas program Monday at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church at 7:45 o’clock. GIRL SCOUT COUNCIL MEETS RECENTLY The Girl Scout council met at the home of Mrs. W. F. Schnepf, Thursday evening. Mrs. Chester Dalzell presided at the regular business. meeting. ization. Miss Frances Dugan, committee chairman for the Girl Scout room in the new Community Center, asked that council members discuss plans for that room. Eligible senior Scouts will be offered a training course on camping by Mrs. Wilma Small, qualified instructor. The successful completion of this course will make the Girl Scouts eligible to attend the 1956 national round-up in Michigan. An area meeting will be held in Decatur, Thursday, January 13. Schnepf. CHURCH MOTHERS STUDY CLUB HOLDS PARTY The Church Mothers study club met Tuesday evening in the Methodist church parlor for their Christmas party. Devotions were given by Mrs- Doyle Collier. Mrs. James Webb was in charge of the program. It was composed of piano se-„ lections by Eleanor Miller, song by Kathleen Smith, and a book review, “The LPtlest Angel,” oy Mrs. Lowell Smith. PARTY IS HE CD BY SORORITY CHAPTERS The four local chapters of Beta Sigma Phi sorority enjoyed a combined Christmas dinner party at the Legion home Tuesday evening. Dinner was served at long tables decoratbd in keeping with ■ the Christmas season. Christmas'music was softly played during the dinner Gifts wereo placed under the Christmas tree and later in the evening a gift exchange was enjoyed. Door prizes were awarded to Mr. William Aftolder and Mrs. James Elberson, Other prizes were won by Mis. Glen Hill, Mrs. Paul Hakes, Mrs. Robert Babcock, and Mrs. Zane Musser. The committee in charge for the evening was Mrs. h Ralph Hobbs, Mrs. Glen Hill, Mrs. Jerome Keller, Mrs. George Bair, Mrs. Paul Hakes, Mrs. Robert Hess, and Mrs. Gary Shufeldt. GIRL SCOUT LEADERS , IN CHRISTMAS PARTY The Girl Scout Leaders club met recently at the Legion home for their annual Christmas party. A carry-in dinner was served at 6:30 o’clock with Mrs. Charles Jessup Mis. Bryon Smith, Mrs. lien Eichenauer, and Mrs. Watson Maddox in charge. A 10-cent gift exchange was held and the rest of the evening was spent playing games. The next meeting will be held at the Legion on January 5. Mrs. Chester Dalzell will teach dancing. CHRISTMAS PARTY IS HELD BY GECODE CLUB The Gecode members enjoyed their annual Christmas party held recently at the Moose home. The stables were gaily decorated with Christmas angels and evergreen. A selection of Christmas ,carols was-’presented by the Decatur and Decatur Catholic high school choirs followed by the reading of? “The Littlest Angel,” by Taya Erekson. Santa came to the party to present a gift to everyone. Prizes were won by Lucile Foor, Zula Holloway, Norma Poorman, Betty Moran, Harriet Pollock, Dorothy Schnepf, Ella Sherry, Mabel Eyanson, Ethel Schlickman; Doris Garboden, Phyllis Pettibone, and Frances Reidenbach. Archbold Honored At Extension Meet LAFAYETTE, lnd„ (INS)'-* Several Hoosiers were honored for their contributions to the state’s agriculture during the annual extension wrokers conference at Purdue University. Nine farm extension -workers were presented awards denoting 25 years of service. Among them were Miss Janice Berlin and C. J. Murphy, both of Marion county, and L. E, Archbold, Adams county, j Two Minor Mishaps Reported By Police A car driven by Jack E. Baumgardner, of 1122 Marshall street, suffered 3150 damage to the right fear door and right rear fender in a collision with an automobile driven by Clark W. Smith at the intersection of Tenth and Marshall streets this morning. Smith’s car suffered a dented fender, estimated at $5 damage. The accident took place at 9:15 as Smith was going north on Tenth and Baumgardner was going east on Marshall. Another accident happened at the corner of Rugg and Winchester streets last night at 10 o'clock, when a car driven by Bert E. Affolder, of Berne, tried to pass a car driven by Von Beam, of 903 Winchester street, as the Beam car turned left from Winchester onto Rugg. Damage was estimated at 350 to the Affolder vehicle, and |4O to the Beam car. Both accidents were investigated by city police. Jx Farm Price Index Shows Increase LAFAYETTE, Ind. (INS) — The Indiana index of farm prices has advanced two points from 234 to 236, during the past month. Purdue University agricultural statisticians said, [however, that October index is four per cent below the same time a year ago. The index is based on 1910-1914 as 100. Cattle declined 11 per cent and corn, six per cent, in seasonal decreases, but other farm product prices either remained stationary or increased. ■ia» Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Everett of Cocoa, Fla., are the parents of a baby girl named Shelly Ann.
