U. S„ Korean Allies Meet On Action In U. N. Seek Intervention PF U, fcj. To Gain Freedom To Fliers UNITED NATIONS. N.Y. (INS) — U S. Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge today asked the IS Korean Allies at UN to meet with him privately before thia afternoon's session of the steering committee which is to vote on assembly intervention to gain freedom for Americans hold as splps by Red China. Lodge spent the morning at U.S. headquarters in consultations with individual members of the Korean Allies, to Iron out final points of a joint resolution to be submitted to the assembly. Its key provision charges Red China with violation of the Korean armistice, accompanied by a demand for release of the 11 U.S. flyers jailed after a recent trial in Peiping. The steering committee, comprising the assembly president, seven vice presidents and seven committee chairmen, almost certainly will vote speedily for UN intervention. k Bitter objections to the move are anticipated from Soviet delegate Jacob Malik, who is a member of the steering committee. Because of the urgent nature of the matter, the usual resource to discussion in the political committee was dropped in favor of direct consideration by the assembly. Speh a procedure requires a twothirds vote of consent by the 60nation body, but the 16 allies are confident they will muster more than the required majority.
