They are shown in a hospital in Los Angeles, just kind of resting up from bruises and grease spots after plowing into the side ot a moving locomotive while on a bicycle. f International? v-- . __ The streets in the' center of town are narrow, twisting cobble-stoned alleys, lined with ancient red brick houses that make it easy to imagine yourself back in medieval times. Right in the middle of town you can find hotels that outkardly preserve the traditional Dutch architecture and yet are modernly decorated and equipped inside. The best hotels charge around six dollars a night for a single room, private bath, with breakfast included. At the home of Rembrandt, Amsterdam boasts one of the most extensive collections of his masterpieces, Including his famous “Night Watch." The city also has the largest collections of Vuu Gogh paintings, more than 200 of them. Still an art center, artists and students set up their easels in the parks and squares, and crowds, particularly bn Sundays and holidays, collect to watch and kibitz. A leisurely stroll through Amsterdam isn't complete, incidentally, unless there’s a stop at u snack stand. Just like Americans eat hot dogs, the Dutch eat herring from stands bedecked with tiny flags, flowers and laden with jars of onions, pickles and herring. The herring man removes the bone and serves the fish either whole or cut in filets on waxed puper and with a toothpick for about four cents. Except on holidays, chances are a tourist won’t see any native cos-
