DECATUR GIRL SCOUT COUNCIL IN MEETING The Decatur G<in Scout council met recently at the home ot Mrs, Max Spencer. The regular business was held. It was announced that 367 registrations for Brownies and Girl Scouts had been sent in to national Girl - Scouts so far this year. The Girl Scout roupd-up held October 30 had 250 in attendance. A successful Girl Scout calendar sale was held, by the Brownie Scouts recently and the fine support of the public was appreciated. The Girl Scouts will take orders for cans and nuts from November 28 to December 3. An area meeting will be held in Fort Wayne, ■November £2. Mrs. Chester Dalzell and Mrs. J. E. Thacker from the council, and Miss Donna Kay Small and Miss Cynthia Lehman gave reports on the conference held at French Lick. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Jack Rosenberger and Mrs. Max Spencer. The next council meeting will be held December 2 at the home of Mrs. W. F. Schnepf. Dinner music was furnished by Mrs. Kenneth Schnepf. Miss Dorothv Schnepf, president of the Gecode" club, then welcomed the guests and John Welch, plant manager, gave an interesting talk. A short program of popular hit tunes was presented by the Aeolchoir under the direction of Dave Embler. Miss Schnepf then introduced Dave Lee, news editor of WKJG and WKJG-TV, speaker of the evening. He told of the sornetlnses hilarious and sometimes maddening events that happen before, during, and after 1 programs of which most people are unaware. At the close of his talk he gave a sneak preview of a new program, “Uncle Dave and Pete Show." Chairman and committee for the evening were Lucile Foor, Dorothy Schnepf. Lorena teller, Mosemary Miller, and Irene Holthouse. Prises were won by Harold Baughn, Leona Omlor and Phyllis Gerke. PLEASANT MILLS WSCS IN RECENT MEETING The Pleasant Mills Methodist W. S. C. S. met recently at the church. The president, Mrs. Harlen Jones, conducted the meeting ofr the afternoon. Mrs. Lee Custer presented interesting devotions and the lesson on, "New Nations shall turn to the Land." with Miss Wanda Mann presenting, “College in Ceylon.” Mrs. George Foor offered prayer and Mrs. Glenn Mann gave readings for the special feature. During ithe business meeting, plans were made for the Thanksgiving turkey supper to be held Friday, November 19 in the church basement. A 50-cent gift exchange will be held. Refreshments were served to 16 antembers, one guest, and two children by the hostesses, Mrs. R. H. Everett, Mrs. Lawrence Ehrsatn, and Mrs. Elfie Jones.’ ROSARY SOCIETY ELEQT OFFICERS Mrs. Andrew Miller was elected 1955 president of the Rosary society of St. ary's Catholic church at a meeting Monday night in the K. of C. hall. Serving under her for the coming year will be Mrs. Eugene Durkin, vice-president; Mrs. Don _Fornt. treasurer; Mrs. Robert Boch, re-
cording secretary, and Mi's- Ben Webster, financial secretary. Another feature of the business meeting was discussion of plans for the clothing drive to aid the bishops’ war relief program. Members of the society will assist in sorting and packing clothes which will be sent to Korea for distribution among needy people. Any one wishing to aid in the drive with a donation of a coat, shoes, a dress or other articles of wearing apparel is asked to .take 1 them to the Catholic school building, where Rosary society members will prepare them- for shipment. ANNUAL FINE ARTS J TEA HERE FRIDAY The Adams County Federation of Women's clubs will hold their annual fine arts *ea Friday at 2 o’clock at the Presbyterian church in the Sunday school rooms. The speaker for the afternoon will be the Rev. Ray Walther, pastor of the Presbyterian church. His subject will be on "Putting Religion Back in the Homes." All Federation members are urged to attend and bring their Christmas gifts for the mental health drive. WOMAN’S CLUB HOLDS GENERAL MEETING > The Decatur Woman's club met last evening at the public library for a general meeting with the Art department in charge. Mrs. George Buckley presided over the business meeting in the absence of Mrs. Roy Kalver. Mrs. Myles Parrish read the minutes and Mrs. Glen Hill gave the treasurer's report. Mirs* Lawrence Anspaugh presented the budget for the new year. Miss Glennys Roop presented the girls sextet consisting of Shelia Ahr, Jane Rentz, Dorcas Thieme. Anita Smith, Greta Erekson, and Dana Dalzell. The girls sang two numbers, accompanied by Miss Helen Haubold. Miss Roop then presented Jack Anspaugh from Wolf and Dessauer in Fort Wayne as the speaker for the evening. His topic was. "Hats. Hints, Hats.” Anspaugh showed several different styles of hats and several of the members modeled them. The meeting was closed by* Mrs. Buckley. The .next meeting will be the Christmas meeting December 15. LEGION AUXILIARY PLANS Enrollment campaign Re-enrollment of its entire membership for 1955 by Thanksgiving Day is the goal of Adams 43 unit of the American Legion auxiliary In an intensive, campaign which began on Veterans. Day, Mrs. V’erena Meyer, unit membership chairman. has announced. The campaign here is part of a nation-wide effort wh;ch has the enrollment of on<’ million auxiliary members for 1955 as its goal. "In addition to our present members. we are also enrolling new members trqjn among the many women of war-service families who are eligible. Eligibility now extends to mothers, wives, sisters and daughters of American I-egiou members and of deceased veterans of the two world wars and the Korean conflict, as well as to women who themselves served in the armed forces during these war*. "For years the American legion auxiliary Has been the nations largest women's patriotic organization with nearly one million women enrolled and With local units in nearly fourteen thousand communities throughout the countiy. "We hope that all eligible-wotnen with lias we go ahead with this work in 1955." The D. A. V. auxiliary will have a business and social meeting tonight at 7; 30 o’clock at the hall.
