Burglary is on the increase Are you fully protected? If thieves broke into your home or office tonight would you be insured? If not yopr friends can always offer you sympathy. Tt is a- nice friendly gesture but doesn’t pay many bills. Burglary losses this year will exceed any since the depression years, the present record Indicates. Careful locking and ordinary safety devices will discourage the amateur burglars, but a determined professional, with a little nerve and luck, frequently breaks into the best guarded homes, offices and stores. That they are usually caught in the long run doesn’t repair the damage or replace the thefts. Only insurance can do this. New modern simplified home and business policies are now available for as little or as much coverage aa you need, home policies start as low as 97.50. Business policies can be tailOErmade to fit your needs. Why not call us first. World's Output Os Wheat Is Decreased Sharp Decrease In U. S. And Canada WASHINGTON (INS) —Sharply decreased production of wheat in the U. S. and Canada this year has contributed to a five percent drop in world output of wheat. The foreign agricultural service estimates that the world wheat crop for 1954 will total, 6,870.000.000 bushels, compared with 7.220,000,000 bushels last year. Despite this drop, wheat output stilTis well above average. The FAS estimates the world breadgrain crop - which includes both wheat and rye-at 249,000,000 tons, w'hich also is well above average. The combined crop for this year, however, is eight percent below the all-time record crop of ,1953 and somewhat below the near-record P crop of .1963. This years, world output of lye is forecast at 1,520,000,000 bushels, which is a two percent increase from 1953 production. A!l this adds up <o a generous supply of wheat and rye for world consuption, despite adverse weather conditions-includlng drought -in many areas. Also despite wheat production cutbacks in the U. S. and Canada, the huge carryover supplies of these two nations bring total supply of wheat in the world to record or neaf-record proportions. Exportable supplies of wheat from -North Am erica now exceed

any foreseeable demand from importing areas. In an effort to reduce its gov-ernment-owned surplus of wheat, the U. S. has launched a barter program under which this commodity will be traded for foreignproduced stategic stockpile materials. z The program was made possible by the 83rd congress under the agricultural trade development and assistance act of 1954, and ■applies to all farm surpluses owned by the government. " Under the program, the commodities must be exported to friendly nations, and materials acquired must meet national stockpile specifications. Meanwhile, the arrtctrtfure partment has reported that the 'winter wheat crop which was painted this fall is in good condition over much of the nation. Additional moisture is needed in some areasy but generally the young crop has made good progress. The winter wheat, crop will form the major portion of 1955 wheat production, which is under acreage allotments and a national marketing quota. Total U. S. output of wheat for 1955 is estimated by department officials at less Than 906,000,000 bushels.
