Mrs. (Maude Foreman was in ebarge/of the program for the mon/L Mrs. Rue Strayer read a popfrt and a reading was given by j>trs. Tickle, Mrs. Chester Bryan assisted by Mrs. Lawrence Carver and Mrs. Carl Schuy presented the lesson. The business session was conducted by Mrs. Floyd Meyer. A gift box was packed and sent to Asheville, N. C. A basket supper will be held at the church November 25 for the families of the community. The December meeting of the society will be held in the church parlors with a covered dish dinner at noon. The men will be guests' A program will be presented in the afternoon and also a gift exchange. The hostess served refreshments to 14 members, five children, and one guest. CHURCH MOTHERS STUDY CLUB HOLDS MEETING Church Mothers study club met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Doyle Collier with 17 members present. The meeting was opened with the club song. Business session was. presided over toy Mrs. Halils Bomifffas. Mrs. Summers was elected as treasurer with the resignalion of Mrs. Dierkea. Mrs. Erman Johnson and Mrs. Habegger presented the lessons. 'Rtefrerfumenv were served by Mrs. Collier, Mrs. Soldiner, Mrs. Ebersole, and Mrs. Paul Uhrick. LADIES FELLOWSHIP IN RECENT MEETING The Ladies Fellowship of the Missionary church met recently with 15 members and two guests present. During the work session the ladies sewed for missionaries. The devotions were given by Mrs. Lawrence Von Gunten and the prayer by Mrs?. Herald Welty. During the business session the -election of officers l was hal'd. Those elected were Mrs. Noah Rich,

RUTH CIRCLE: MEETS WEDNESDAY EVENING The Ruth circle of the Presbyterian church met Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. John Halterman. She was assisted, by Mrs. Dick Macklin. Mrs. Edward Cook led a responsive reading praise service and the program on “India" was presented by 'Mrs, b. B. Erwin. The group decided to purchase eight gifts for 13-year-old boys and eight gifts for, 13-year-old girls. They will be sent to the Hillcrest orphayage. UNION CHAPEL W.S.W.S. IN RECENT MEETING The Union Chapel AVomen’s Society of World Service met at the home of Mrs. Glen Roughia Thursday evening. Mrs. C.s,O. Brown, leader for the evening, used the topic “The Missionary Looks at His Field.” The service opened with the playing of the prelude by Mrs. Earl Chase, which was followed with prayer by the. leader. Mrs. Omer Merriman, Mrs. Wilbur Foor, and Mrs. Vincent Parker gave interesting items concerning the topic. Mrs. Nile Williamson and Mrs. Chase sang "Open My Eyes That 1 May See.” Mrs. Robert Workinger read the scripture lesson. “We Rejoice That We Have a Share” was given by Janet Brown. The closing thought and prayer poem was given by Mrs. L. T. Norris. The business meeting was in charge of the president, Mrs. Donald Smith. It was announced that the “Thank Offering Service” would be Sunday morning, with a report oil the Kentucky Mission fields to be given in the evening. Refreshments were served by the hostess to Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Merriman, Mrs. Chase. Monroeville Girl Married Recently To Decatur Youth to . - Miss Mary Helen Gramelspacher, daughter of Mrs. Harold Brown of Monroeville and ..Paul Gramelspacher of Fort Wayne, was recently married to Frederick Allen Dellinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Frederick Dellinger of Decatur. The chapel of the Methodist church in Bluffton was the scene of the marriage, with the Rev. Samuel Emerick officiating. The bride chose a beige knit suit with black accessories and a rose corsage. __3

TRI KAPPA ASSOCIATE CHAPTER IN MEETING The Tri Kappa associate chapter met at the home of Mrs. Gerald Kohue, Mrs. AVard Calland and Mrs. Dale Moses were assistant hostesses. Mrs. Robert Mills presented the program by telling of her trip and showing slides , of her trip abroad this summer. During the business meeting it was decided to donate $25 to the mental health drive. . Miss Marlene Dellinger attended the bride as maid of honor. She wore a light blue dress with angora trim. Gayle Ainswofth attended the bridegroom as best man. Following the ceremony, a dinner party was held for the immediate families. The bridegroom is employed by the Dunbar Furniture company in Berne. The couple is residing at 210 S. Ninth St. in Decatur. The couple was honored with a party given by Mr. and Mrs. F. Freftg£j<!k Dellinger at their home Sunday evening. The party was in the form of a shower for the honored couple. They received many gifts. Refreshments were served by the hostess to approximately 3d guests.

This group, consisting of 50 voices, tours the midwest each year, and gave a performance on a nationwide broadcast as the result o't having been chosen the outstanding choir in this region two years ago. Ditto is a freshman, majoring in chemistry. Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Kohne and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Andrews motored to South Bend this morning and attended the Notre Dame-North Carolina football game this afternoon. Dave Campbell, former Decatur resident now of Ohio, and Charles D. Ehinger of this city attended the Purdue-Ohio State football game at Lafayette this afternoon. Between 2 and 26 fat lambs, ready for market, were stolen from the Luther Yager farm just west of Berne on state road 118. The loss is estimated around $450. iFerd Mettler. 'Sheriff Os Year’ To Be Named In Indiana An nuo I Conve n tio n Os Sheriffs Sunday GARY, Ind. (INS) -- A "Sheriff of the Year" is so be chosen for the first time in die history of the Indiana sheriff’s association. Sheriff Jack West of Lake county, who heads the association; explained that the yardstick for determining which official is to get the annual award includes such factors as: Efficiency and appearance of his staff; success of criminal investigation; rating with members of the association and in his own county. The award will be presented for the first time at the 24th annual convention of the sheriffs’ organization, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in Hotel Gary. Some. 200 sheriffs, deputies and other law enforcement officials are expected to attend the meetings, which also will consider legislation to be' recommended to the 1055 general assembly. One of the likely bills to be discussed is a measure providing for paid jail matrons. At present, much of this type of work is done by the wife or a daughter of the sheriff, without pay. Also to be discussed wil Ibe payment for trips to return criminal suspects from other counties and states. The organization, which erpresentS 117,000 farm families in Hoosierland, called on the state legislature to enact a law that would for skidding his auto around a school corner,, endangering the children on both sidewalks.
