The meeting was opened with a prayer. Mrs: Richard Des Jean, chairman of the evening, suggested making a pilgrimage to Marie Stein, Q., and then plans were made to go next spring. Religious discussion followed. The meeting was adjourned-with the recitation of the Rosary. Members of the Decatur home demonstration club will conduct the meeting as. the sponsoring group. Mrs. Theron Fenstermaker, county home demonstration council president, will be present for the program. There are now 21 homo demonstration clubs in Adams county. — SORORITY MEETING IS HELD TUESDAY NIGHT — Xi Alpha Xi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the honje of Mrs. N’ila Neil Tuesday evening. Mrs. Mildred Ellsworth conducted the meeting. It was decided that each member give a gift for the mental hospital. The meeting was then turned over to the program leader. Dorothy Mauller presented the lesen, “Let us Think About Thinking.", An interesting panel discussion followed. The traveling prize was won by Nilah K’eil. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Sixteen members answered to the roll call. Mrs. Henry Adler presided over the business meeting. Mrs. Passwater read an interesting paper on “Tropical Gardens of Key West," written by Mrs. (ides Porter, leader. who now is in Florida. One. new member, Mrs. Wesley Lehman, was welcomed in the club. Mrs. Passwater was assisted by Mrs. Bob Passwater of Fort Wayne in serving a delicious lunch, carried out in fall theme. EASTERN STAR HOLDS JOINT INSPECTION Decatur, Portlarid ana Geneva chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star Jet in the Masonic Hall in Decatur for joint inspection by Mrs. Carrie S. May, worthy grand matron-of the Indiana grand chapterr“ The inspection was preceeded by a carry-in dinner in the dining rtwrni,: which was decorated in keeping with, the Thanksgiving season. Families of pilgrim dolls were on the tables along with pumpkins holding chrysanthemums and horns-of-plenty filled with gourds and fruit. A paper pilgrim shoe, complete with silver buckle, was at each place. Each honored guest found a corsage ai her place. , Following the'dinner a 50-year pin was presented to Mrs. Flora Kienzle by Mrs. May on behalf of the Indiana grand chapter. At 7:10 p. m. seventeen babies, accompanied by their parents, were dedicated to the principles of the order by Mrs. May assisted by Mrs. Raymond Woodruff. Cecil Sible and Mrs. Edson Dickey, of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Elmo Stucky of Monroe. Each child was’ presented a gift—from Decatur chapter. During the ceremony Mrs. N’iland Oehsenrider sang "The Cradle Song,” accompanied by Mrs. Harry Stultz at the organ. Mrs. May was escorted, to her seat of honor through an aisle formed by eight members of Job's Daughters, from Portland, one of whom sang "Love,, Sends a Gift of Rohes” and presented to her an arm bouquet of "pink roses., Mis. YOUNG ADULT CLASS MEETS THURSDAY The Young Adult class of the Bethany E. V. B, church met Thursday evening at 6:30 o'clock in the church basement for a class meeting. A farewell dinner for the teacher. Ed Maitz, was enjoyed by SO members. Following the dinner a skit was given in presentation of a gif; to the Mariz faprily. A song fest wai led by Larry Anspaugh. The business meeting was con-' ducted by Richard Maloney. Several projects were discussed and it was decided to give cash donations for the nursery Instead of having a Christmas exchange.

Miss Herzog is a graduate of Huntington high school and is employed" at the Huntington Laboratories. Mr. Sautbine is a graduate of Decatur high school and is in the engineering-contracting business. The wedding will take place January 30 at the First Evangelical United Brethren church in Hunt ington. Strike Threat On Chrysler Plants Threat From Body Division Workers DETROIT (INS) — The CIOUnited Auto Workers Union today threatened a strike which could halt production on the new models of all Chrysler Corp. passenger cars. Involved in the dispute over grievance issues are 24,000 automotive body divisioh workers in Detroit and 2,000 in Evansville, lnd. The division builds the bodies of the corporation’s five cars — Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, Chrysler and Imperial. Emil Mazey. • UAW-CIO secre-tary-treasurer, said a strike vote conductecj among the workers Involved carried by 92.4 percent. The company declined comment. No date is set for a strike, but Mazey said he would seek im mediate authorization frorn the UAW executive board. A long list of grievances listed by Mazey was headed by what he termed “a general breakdown of collective bargaining."
