WORLD COMMUNITY DAY PROGRAM HERE The World Community Day profram is being planned by the Decatur Council of Church Women. The program will be this evening at 7:30 o'clock at the Reformed church. The offering on World Community Day will be divided between Church World Service projects for the aid of sick and dl,sensed children and the work of united ' hurch women for peace. A program is planned and all church women are urged to attend. BPW TO HEAR EARL CASTON Earl Caston of the First State Bank will address members of the Business and Professional Women's? club at their meeting Wednesday at the Methodist church. A 6:30 p. m. dinner will precede the program, which will feature Caston's talk. The committee in charge Is education and vocation, with Marie Felber and Matilda Sellemeyer. Members of the Decatur club are Invited to attend events during November. A council meeting will take place in Indianapolis Sunday, •Nov. M. Reservations for this meeting must be made with Irene lllcks by Saturday. Local members will also attend a card party at Huntington Nov. 16 and a meeting at Marlon Nov. 17. Miss Joan Wemhoff is in charge of reservations for these events. PBI IOTA XI HOLDS BUSINEBB MEETING The Psi lota Xi sofority held a business meeting Wednesday evening at the home dt Mrs. Paul Hancher. Inspection Jon April 27 was brought to the attention of the members. The Snow Ball dance was discussed, which will he held December 29 at Sunset park with the Bel-Aires orchestra. Mrs. I»well Harper presented a talk on mental health of adults. Members are to bring gifts to the next social meeting for that purpose. If more information is wanted call the president. November 17 at the Elks home with Mrs. Harry Hogan of Fort Wayne as the guest speaker. This meeting will be guest night. Those who wish to bring guests must have their reservations in by November 15 to Betty McNemey. The Christmas dinner will be December 15 at the Zion Lutheran parish hall. HAPPY HOMEMAKERS IN RECENT MEETING The Happy Homemakers home demonstration club met recently at the home of Mrs. George Thomas. Margaret Ptirrish gave the history of the song of the month. Mrs. Freeman Walters gave the devotions. The president, Mrs. Sheldon Wagley, led the group In repeating the club creed in unison. The following committee was appointed to be in charge of the bake sale November 27: Mabel Cook, Dorothy Raltzell, Margaret Parrish, Mrs. Elva Stanley, and Belva Schepp. The leader, Mabel Cook, gave the lesson. Games were played and refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Annette and Mrs. Neil Thomas, and Gynatb Schneps. CIVIC DEPARTMENT IN SEASON OPENING The Civic department of the Decatur Woman's club conducted the opening meeting of the season recently at the borne of Mrs. Adolph Kolter. Mrs. Albert Beery presided. After the collect was repeated, Mrs. Beery introduced the two new members, who are Mrs. Homer Rease, and Mrs. Harold Owens The club voted to donate $lO to the Community Fund. Mrs. N. A. Bixler presented the lesson. “Promise of a Growing America.'* During the social hour the committee refreshments we re served by Mrs. Albert Beery. Mrs. Noah Reynolds, Mrs. R. K McConnell, Mrs. N. The public is invited to attend this program which will be held Tuesday evening at 8:15 o’clock at the Monmouth school immediately following* the regular business meeting, which will be at 7:30 o'clock. Loren Jones, school principal, Is the general chairman of the meeting. UNION CHANEL LADIES AID MEETS THURSDAY The Ladies Aid of the Union Chapel church met Thursday for sewing and quilting. A carry-in dinner was served at the noon hour. The president, Mrs. HarVe Koos. presided during the business meeting, which was opened with the singing or the hymn “Rock of Ages.” Mrs., Florence Bauman lead the devotions. The hymn. "All. the Way My Savior Leads" was then sung, followed by prayer. It was voted to have a Christmas party at the next regular meeting, December 2, with a 50 cen gift exchange. A program committee consisting of Mrs. Earl Chase; Aprs. Don Smith, Mrs. Ralph Rice, Mrs. Robert Can - and Mrs. Carl Hurst Was appointed. Mrs. L. T. Norris offered the closing prayer. There were 12 members and two vistors present. The Delta Lambda chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will have a dinner at the Fairway Restaurant Tuesday evening at 6:30 o'clock. A pledge party, will be held later in the eveuinjMn the heme of Mrs. Jerome Keller. The Great Books discussion group will meet Thursday evening at 8 o’clock at the public library. The Literature department of Woman's club will have a supper meeting Monday evening at 6:30' o'clock at the heme of Mrs. l,eo Kirsch. The Ava Maria study club will meet at the home of Mrs. Frances' Terveer Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock. The Ladles Eagles auxiliary will meet Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock at the hall. The Ladies Shakespeare club met Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. George Buckley with 22 members present. The Rev. and Mrs. John E. Chambers drove to Indianapolis today. Rev. Chambers is attending the trustees' meeting at Central College. Mrs. Chambers is attending a tea at 2:30 in the afternoon given by the faculty women's club for the wives of the trustees. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson of Bluffton have returned, home from a several weeks tour of Europe. They made the trip over by plane and returned on the Queen Mary. Postpone Meeting Os Zoning Appeals The meeting of the Decatur board of zoning appeals, scheduled for next Tuesday night, has been postponed until Tuesday night, November 30, at 7:15 o'clock, it was announced today by Clarence Ziner, chairman. The hearing was scheduled to hedr a I complaint of violation of the zoning ordinance by Herman Dlerkes in the construction of a building in the northwest part of the city. Dierkes' attorneys. "Since the ordinance provides for all interested persons to be represented by legal counsel. B Pleads Insanity In Shooting Os Wife Indianapolis Man * Pleads Not Guilty CINCINNATI, O. (INS) —James Coffey, 32-year-old Indianapolis, Ind. man, has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in connection with "Jthg shooting of his wife, Juanita. 26, at the Sheraton-Oibson hotel. Coffey is charged with first-de-gree murder in the shooting, which occurred September 11th while his wife was working at the hotel’s Sidewalk Case us a waitress. The insanity plea was filed with criminal court Judge John W. Peck, who ordered that Coffey undergo an examination at a tftate mental hospital before proceedings are carried further.
