AUXILIARY PLANS CHRISTMAS PROJECT Three -members of the Decatur American Legion Auxiliary unit 4:*. attend a potluek dinner at the borne of Mrs. Body Fisher in Fort Wayne Thursday night. Attending the dinner were volunteer workers of the Fort Wayne Veterans hospital, The three Decatur women were, Mrs. T. t\ Smith, Mrs. ./Herman Dicrkea and Mrs. Frances Monahan. They assisted with plans fbr a gift shop which W-ill be set up at the hospital for the convenience of the veterans Dec. 8 and 9. The purpose of the gift shop is to permit hospitalized veterans to do their Christmas shopping. The shop will also feature a gift wrapping and mailing service at no extra cost to the veteran. The auxiliary will also prepare gifts to be given to the veterans at Christmas time. The entire Christmas program is financed through the sale of poppies. The program is a part of the general veteran rehabilitation project of the auxiliary. The Thursday night meeting also featured a discussion of plans for tlje district rehabilitation Christmas party Dec. 1 at the hospital in Fort Wayne. Persons wishing to donate gifts for this party are asked to contact Mrs. Adrian Baker, local rehabilitation chairman. The annual convention of the northeast district Garden clubs will be held in Decatur at the Methodist church Tuesday, sponsored by the local Decatur and Rose Garden clubs. An all day meeting is planned with a noon luncheon, served bythe ladies of tire Methodist church. Reservations for the dinner should be made with Mrs. Paul Daniel. The Rev. Virgil Sexton, pastor of the Methodist church will present the Invocation, and the greetings will be given by N, F. Walknetz, director of the northeast district. The response will be presented by Mrs. clarence D. Jones and the pledge of allegiance will be given by Mrs. N. A. Bixler. Mrs. William C. Feller will present a vocal selection, accompanied by Mrs. Edgar Gerber, State president, 'Mrs. Earl T. Aiken, will give the address. The northeast clubs represented at the meeting will be Auburn. Berne, liluffton, Columbia City, Fort Geneva, Huntington, Roanoke, amT Decatur. A florist display with, "Driftwood and Accessories," will be given by Mrs. Don K. Lutes and. Norma Conrad offered prayer and Nyla Girod presented a piano solo. During the business, meeting the following officers were elected; president, Evelyn Beineke; vice-president. Carol Egiey; secretary.
