Urge Early Mailing For Overseas Vets Nov. 15 Deadline On Christmas Packages Christmas packages for overseas servicemen and their families should be mailed between October 15 and November 15 again this year. Leo Kirsch. Decatur postmaster. said today. Particular care should be taken with food parcels, Kirsch warned. No food likely to spoil should be sent, as thousands and thousands of parcels will be piled up for weeks at both east and west coast ports. Cakes, moist foods, and other goods which might spoil should not be sent. Food poisoning might result, from such practice, Kirsch warned. Cookies and candy should be mailed in tin containers, such as old lard or shortening cans, or in

Air parcels should be mailed not later than November 25, Kirsch advises, because military, requirements on air service are met betore postal demands. In the past, at Christmas time, it has often been necessary to postpone Christmas rush air shipping, and sent it by boat, to meet military needs on air craft. Air transportation for servicemen overseas is guaranteed by the post.office only to the ports in this country from which the mail is sent abroad. Air post is limited in size to a total length and width of 30 Inches, and weight of two pounds. Detailed information on mailing, and packing of Christmas boxes, may be obtained at the post office, Kirsch stated. Trade In t. Good Town — Decatur.
