I Oa*&Tjo| ttesson ( |*ga Creamed comments on the Sunday school lesson, God's Answers to Job’s’ Perplexities, Job 38:1-7; 42:1-10, for Sunday, October 10. A curtain between Job and Ged was a test of Job’s faithfulness when he endured groat looses and endured indescribable sufferings while frtonda Insisted that because Os losses and sufferings he was a wicked man. In this lesson the curtain is lifted and Job forgefo about his misgivings; that God's face shines tor him again is enough. V.l. “Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:” God hid himself in a cloud; fell voice would be hoard for it is meet important that God be heard. V. 2. "Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?" Man’s mind is limited so there mu be no complete understanding of God and his will. Living up to the light one has sufflceth. It is no more necessary for the Christian to know everything in order to be happy than it is for him to have everything to be pyV. 3. "Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand es thee and answer thou me.’’ Job having wished to meet God to secure reasons is now challenged to hear God. VJ. “Where west thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare if thou hast understanding.” Eternity can not be matched by a tew years. No man was present in creation, hence po man could speak with knowledge. V-fi. “Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? Or who bath stretched the line upon it?" Man's plan of building calls tor a foundation and definite processes in Its construction. Not so with the crestion of the earth, for ft exists in space; how explain that? Here is a fact with man’s reason furnishing explanations. V. 6. “Whereupon are the foundations thereof? Or who laid the cornerstone thereof? The architecture of God 'is beyond the' measureI IteVvJ ✓’VvY ’ I EXaKAVayI Billy Graham preaches that the individual should put his soul before his body, and that a nation should put God's laws before political expediency or fear of war. He sees in Communism a manifestation of anti-Christ, and is, therefore, convinced that opposition to it has divine sanction. He says that God Will have the final word and that man should not compromise, nor does he need to compromise with what God has declared he wilt destroy. He distinctly preaches that there will be divine intervention in world affairs. To him. compromise with stheiem is wrong, and sinful, and therefore, not only unnecessary, but far more dangerous than the H-bomb. Once accepted, this conviction naturally alters a man's whole outlook on foreign plicy, Just as Billy Graham's preaching alters a mas s whole outlook on social relations whether in the factory or In the dome . To help someone more fortunate than we think wo are gives us a naw attitude of generosity.

V.7. “When the morning stars sing together and ell the sons of God shouted together for joy?” The stars are poetically described as singing together upon witnessing the marvel of earth’s creation. The sons of God are angelic beings. V.l. "Then Job answered the Lord and said:" Job was humbled and spoke as a penitent. V.?. “I know that thou canst do everything, and no thought can be withholding from thee." Job agrees with God that he is all powerful. In man's weakness, God’s strength is manifest. Man is too weak to save himself but In Christ all may be saved. V. 3. “Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered what I understood not; things too wonderful which I know noL" Here is a confession in tint Job presumed to know and understand God's dealings with him. Here is man’s possibility when severely tried—Just to wait on God and murmur not. V. 4. “Hear I beseeeh thee, and I will speak; I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me." This verse is s repetition es the divine challenge made to Jeb i* 38:?. Job was greatly impressed by these words. V. 5. "I have beard of thee by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye see th thee." Much of Job's former knowledge was mere hearsay. Now he hears God speak. V.t. "Wherefore I abhor myself, and repeat in dust and ashes.'' Jab was not a sinner and yet he repented, for ha had failed in judgment and he was guilty of an innocent error. Being imperfect in memory, judgment and reason, all men. even the righteous, are sorry for innocent misdoings and may well pray, "Forgive us our treapasses.” V.lO. "And the Lord turned the captivity of Job,, when he prayed for his friends.’’ Job afflictions were removed and his prosperity restored. —Biased on copyrighted outlines produced by the Division of Christian Education, National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U. 8. The author has insluded written, men? tai and musical games, as well as stents. Our Preacher Says: There are two thinks in life one oan not get away from—-himself and his memories. He can run away from home, from business, from the community, or from responsibility; in fast, he ogn escape from nearly everything but himself and msiaery. A afore of good memories is a rich treasure; bad memories make a hell. The joy of visiting with old friends as couched in the words “Do you remember?” recalls happy experiences of the past and brings a sense of Joy and thanksgiving, provided the deeds were good.
