BACK TO SCHOOL PARTY IS HELD BY SORORITY The Delta Theta Tau sorority held a back to school party Tuesday evening at the Elks home. A school lunch was served and games were played. Those winning prizes were Miss Kate Weidler, Miss. Isabelle Kintz, and Mrs. Cliff Brewer. The committee for the evening was Mrs. H. R. Frey, Mrs. Joe Krick, Alias Helen Mowery, and Miss Shirley Mitchell. After the party a business meeting was held. Alias Vera Geimer was elected to go to the province convention and Miss Helen Mowery is her alternate. The contention will be held at Plymouib November 6 and 7. VINCENT DE PAUL > SOCIETY IN MEETING The St. Vincent de Paul society met Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the C. L, of C. hall. The meeting was opened with the society's prayer to St. Vincent de Paul Mrs. Frances Monahan, president, conducted the business meeting. Mrs. Charles Keller, chairman of the social program, was assisted by Mesdames James Murphy, Sr., Charles Voglewede, William Schumacher, Mathias Coffee, Nick Braun. Addie Wagner, Rose Loshe, Mary Sorg, and Miss Bertha Johns. Cards were played and prizes were won by Mrs. William Berling, Mrs. Frank Schmitz, and Mrs. Ron Loshe. Refreshments were served by the comrfiittee in charge. The meeting was closed with prayer for the sick and deceased members. The next meeting will be held October 29 with Mrs. Grover Clauser and her committee in charge of the social part of the meeting. FALL MEETING HELD BY REBEKAH LODGES The fall meeting of district number 31, Rebekah lodges, was held Wednesday at Hartford City with Century lodge of that citv acting as host lodge. A chicken suppei and bazaar will be held October 9 from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock at the Hoagland Methodist church, prices for adults $1 and children 50 cents. The Beta Sigma Phi council will meet at the home of Mrs. Andrew Appleman Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock. The Indies Shakespeare club will meet with Mrs. Dan Tyndall Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Adams County Chorus will meet Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock at the Berne high school. The Pocohantas lodge will meet Tuesday evening at the Red Men hall at 7:30 o’clock. Jones, of Homestead 3, who was arrested April IS and charged then for leaving the scene ot an accident, appeared before justice of the peace Floyd Hunter yestreday, and entered a plea of guilty when the charge was changed from leaving the scene to 7feckless driving.
